Star Wars - Rebuilding of Empires - a collaborative fiction

Post by SpaceMarine93 »

I don't know if you guys had already heard about this, but while I was surfing the net about Star Wars I stumbled upon this massive collaborative fiction project:

Star Wars - Rebuilding of Empires
[http://rebuilding-of-empires.wikispaces.com/]

The premise is one of Alternate History: As in the Dark Empire EU comics, Emperor Palpatine was reborn as a clone on Byss, and managed to unite ALL the Imperial remnant factions and launch a massive offensive at the New Republic, with the goal of retaking Coruscant. In the massive climatic battle that followed, all the major characters were killed off: Han, Luke, Chewie, Admiral Ackbar, Leia, Mothma, Palpatine, Thrawn, etc everyone.

Without its leaders on both sides, the entire Galaxy fell into chaos, and from the ashes rose of many new galactic factions and nations, and new leaders to lead them, all trying to assert dominance across the Galaxy.

All authors collaborating in this project were instructed to pick a handful of planets, choose a leader and a form of government, a small fleet that reflected local economies (in other words, no one starts out with Super Star Destroyers and massive fleets of regular Star Destroyers) and maybe a couple Force users, and build from there.

It started in 2004, and it had been going ever since. The Galaxy is now dominated by a dozen great factions and many unaligned systems. The future of the Galaxy remains uncertain.

I read through it, and it looks quite nice. Loads of ideas about new Star Wars factions, new technologies, ships, social and political struggle and what not. The story, if any, looks seriously epic. Has anyone here heard of it? If so, what are your comments?
Life sucks and is probably meaningless, but that doesn't mean there's no reason to be good.

Edit: Here's the official map. Doesn't say which faction is which, though.

Looks like a bunch of fanwanky garbage to me.

Isn't that one of those STGOD things I keep hearing about? Not quite the same as a fanfic, I think.

It isn't a STGOD. It uses different RP rules.

Not so much, he has cool equipment but spends so much time with Robin people think his secret identity is Jerry Sandusky.

Now Iron Man...there is some jealousy. Still waiting on an answer from that other guy though. Apparently the SW fanfic equivalent of Chat Roulette has me envious.

You want group fiction set in that era? Try the Vast Empire. Thrawn is Thrawn, the Republic is the Republic, and Dark Empire never happened.
