Obi-Wan... YOU'RE FIRED! Did I Just Make A RAR?

Post by Havok »

In this thread we shall look at some other Jedi and discuss their pros and cons for being Anakin's Jedi mentor and Master. Then we will take that and see how Anakin's life play out to the point where the Prophecy of the Chosen One bringing "balance"* to the Force is fulfilled.

For a starting point, we will pick up from the scene on Naboo between Yoda and Obi-Wan where he tells Obi-Wan of the Council's decision to have Anakin trained as a Jedi... HOWEVER, as the council is not "fucking stupid"**, they aren't going to give it to the newly Knighted student of a Master they constantly butted heads with and Yoda informs him that [insert your choice here] will take Anakin as their Padawan learner.

You can use any other active Jedi from the MOVIES that has a back story. The back story can be from the EU, but the Jedi may not be an EU creation, unless they are brought into one of the later movies.

TPM Canon Option: You can disregard the OT and do a completely new chain of events from our starting point, but it must end with Anakin somehow fulfilling the prophecy that Mace speaks of. However, you may interpret the prophecy how you see fit.

TPM/OT Canon Option: You can leave the OT intact and just have the new events be in the PT, but everything that is said in the OT is law. Only Obi-Wan and Yoda survived the Empire and Vader's hunting of the Jedi. Luke and Leia's mother lived and Leia remembers her. However, in this option Obi-Wan does tell lies, so use that as you see fit.

Galvatron Option: Obi-Wan in ANH, states that Vader killed Anakin to Luke. You can take that as fact if you wish but then you must provide a new chain of events after ANH that gets you to Anakin somehow fulfilling the Prophecy while being dead. You must also provide a plausible explanation for Vader as well as providing for his death as he is no longer Luke's father. You must also account for Obi-Wan being Vader's Master. This option leaves you with TPM up until the aforementioned scene and ANH as your canon.

Qui-Gon Option: SURPRISE! That lightsaber blade just missed really important stuff in Qui-Gon and he is alive to take the reigns of Anakin's training as he should have. You can combine this with any of the above 3 options, but you must abide by that options rules and canon. (Example: TPM/OT Option: Qui-Gon has to be dead before ANH. You can do this however you want obviously.

Sith Option: You may use Palpatine or Maul, who for this options sake, loses an arm and flees Naboo instead of being killed, as Anakin's Master and have him start down the path of the Dark Side at age 10ish.
This option provides the flip side to this thread as it poses the opposite question. What could Anakin have accomplished as a Sith if he had had proper training in their ways for most of his life from a highly qualified Master?

Bonus points to anyone that decides to use Yoda's line of there being another and not having it be Leia and has an interesting explanation. Obviously, if you pick the TPM/OT Canon option, you don't get to try this.

Most of you know I loath the EU, but if you want to use plots or story elements from it that is fine, just cite the source and maybe give a brief explanation as to why you used it etc.

Sith Option - (This is the summary of a fanfiction I went to write)
Note: I have not read the new Darth Plagieus book.

Maul doesn't screw around and uses the Force to toss Kenobi down the reactor pit.
Palpatine adopts Anakin. This gives him the greatest control over Anakin's development. He also purchases Shimi to solidify Anakin's trust and loyalty. (Tattooine just got removed from the rest of the story). Palpatine also requests the Council monitor Anakin, incase it becomes apparent that the boy needs to be trained. (i.e he's starting to activate his potiental on his own somehow)

Palpatine arranges for Dooku to provide a little training for Anakin.

Palpatine subtly guides Anakin's force practice.

First review with the Jedi Council. Anakin expects to have impressed them with what he's figured out on his own and be accepted. Their second 'refusal' drives him into anger.

Palpatine reveals himself as the Sith Lord to Anakin, and Anakin willing joins the Sith.

Seperatist build up occurs in secret. However, Anakin's training is added. Dooku is convinced that Anakin is to be the military leader of the future Sith Army (refer to Dooku's beliefs as stated during the ROTS novelization).
This includes putting Anakin through testing at the same level Maul endured, as well as high level educational requirements (he's ment as a successor, not a tool, after all). HIs training is considered complete after having to spend a month on Nar Shadda being pursued by 12 bounty hunters.

Anakin sacrificies Simi using a explosive device on her speeder when she goes out grocery shopping. The device's design is an old Sith assasination device, and leaves no trace. A few days later, Anakin 'loses it' over his mother, and Palpatine shows the Jedi Council video recording of the incident. Imagine the 'No!' scream from ROTS, but in a gargage, and alot more damage. The Jedi interview Anakin, and he admits to having accessed a Holocron his father purchases several years ago (truth), and built his own lightsaber (truth). The council tests him, and decides Anakin needs to be trained.

This however, was a ploy by Sidious and Dooku. Anakin will recieved additional training from the Jedi, and gain first hand practice and experience against them in lightsaber drills and force practice. One of the styles Anakin learns is Vlaapad from Mace Windu himself. He is also given the 'flexibility' of a Corellian as it regards Jedi tenants (numerous EU references). Palpatine arranged for Shimi's records to be located and reveal she is a Corellian. Anakin has also included Corellian elements to his 'style' and personality

(Attack of the Clones)
Seperatist Crisis reaches a head. Anakin is used to remove Padme as a threat to the vote. Anakin is given leave to handle er as he see's fit. After killing the first bounty hunter, and letting Jango Fett escape), Anakin escorts Padme home to Naboo, where she falls in love with him. Another Jedi is sent ot track down the Bounty Hunter. Events go 'as is' in with the movie otherwise, except Anakin reveals he was sent by Sidious to Geonosis for some reason (it was a hand signal), and the second Jedi does not go with Anakin to fight Dooku. Anakin and Dooku still duel, as Anakin is annoyed that Dooku would try to kill someone 'that belongs to me now' (re: Padme). Dooku is surprised when Anakin fights him to a near-stand still. Anakin throws the fight when Yoda arrives. Anakin and Padme marry openly, as Anakin has that flexibility. Anakin has also managed to 'recruit' Padme to their cause. IT's the start of a process, and it finalized by Revenge of the Sith.

(Clone Wars Cartoon Series)
Anakin is the great hero of the Republic, and ends up with Asoka Tano as a Padawan. Asoka will eventually be turned to the Dark Side (after ROTS)

Revenge of the Sith -
ANakin leads a group of Knights to rescue Palpatine from the 'Invisible Hand'. He kills them as his final sacrifice, then kills Dooku, and is dubed Darth Vader. Otherwise, events unfold as is, without the revelation that Palpatine = Sidious until Mace Windu and the other Jedi masters come to inform him of the death of General Grevious. (Grevious is killed by A'sharadd Hett, and Hett is killed in the process.) Palpatine and Anakin reveal themselves as the Sith, and tear the Jedi apart, with Anakin having adapted Vlaapad to work as a channel for the lightside as well.

Vader leads the attack on the Jedi temple, and then waits for Yoda to show up. Vader kills Yoda after one hell of a lightsaber duel. Padme gives birth to the twins.

Vader goes on to hunt the Jedi down, and eventually killed Palpatine using the adapted Vlaapad techniques.

In the Dark Side ending: Vader becomes the Sith Master and builds a new Sith Order with his family and closes allies at it's head.

IN the Lightside Ending: Anakin returns to the light while using the adapted Vlaapad technique to turn the Emperor's Sith Lightning into Lightside attacks. Anakin reforms the government and builds a new and improved Jedi Order.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Any true Galvatron option should never include TPM. :P

However, for the sake of the discussion, I'd say that Anakin was personally trained by Mace Windu and grew up to be a normal, well-adjusted Jedi Knight. He freed his mother from Watto during an EU adventure and she lived happily ever after.

Darth would be a clone of Anakin. In Episode II, Obi-wan uncovers a plot to abduct Jedi and create a clone army of them for use against the Republic. Freshly "born" Darth gets rescued from the bad guys by Obi-Wan and the Jedi council decide to let him take the clone (accelerated to roughly the same age as Anakin) as a pupil. Anakin happily accepts Darth as a twin brother.

The Jedi were mistaken. Anakin wasn't the chosen one. His clone is. It also means that Luke is still, for all intents and purposes, genetically the son of Anakin Skywalker. That's partly why his true parentage was never discovered until Vader himself finally revealed it.

The OT stays intact as is.

Episode I: The Clone Wars

We begin the Clone Wars with younger Anakin and Obi Wan fighting the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the first scene. The war is at a stalemate as Anakin Skywalker is beginning his training under Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin greatly respects Obi Wan but chafes under Jedi rules and restrictions, Obi Wan is seen to be somewhat more lenient than other teachers, including Yoda, but he still adheres without question. He believes in the prophecy of the Chose One that his Master, a never seen Qui Gon Jinn, related to him even though the Jedi Council specifically does not. During the events of Episode I Anakin and Obi Wan are called to the neutral system of Naboo to assist in the rescue of Republic Ambassador Palpatine and a Republic Diplomat named Padme Amidala, who is roughly Anakin's age and can hold her own (visions of Leia) but is thrust violently into the role of Queen when her father is killed by an unknown separatist assassin, which is eventually revealed to be the Jedi Master Dooku, who has betrayed the Jedi to join the Separatists (secretly manipulated by Palpatine/Sidious). Despite Dooku's efforts Obi Wan, Anakin, and Padme escape the planet and come back with a fleet and clone army (numbering 5-10 million or so) to retake the planet. Anakin and Padme develop a connection as he rescues her.

Episode II: The Phantom Menace

It is some years later and Anakin is a Jedi Knight operating alongside of Obi Wan while maintaining a secret relationship with Republic Ambassador Amidala, who was appointed to the position by Palpatine after he became Supreme Chancellor (not depicted on screen, but it is alluded to that he was a surprise choice and had gained a wide range of support.) Dooku, who has assumed the herditary title of Count Dooku, is leading a campaign across the galaxy which Anakin wants to rush headfirst into but an assassin is causing concerns as well. Anakin is forced to stay and protect Palpatine, Amidala, and other members of the Republic Government from the assassin known as Greivous while Obi Wan and other Jedi seek out Dooku. This film culminates with the raid on Coruscant, as the plots from Anakin and Obi Wan overlap when Greivous attempts to assassinate the Chancellor under cover of a Confederate attack. Anakin defeats Greivous at great cost, losing a limb in the process.

Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

An unspecified amount of time has passed and Anakin is a Jedi Master, but denied a chance to sit on the Jedi Council due to his suspected ties to the Chancellor's office. Anakin does not try to refute the allegations in order to cover up his secret affair with Amidala, and it is true that he has maintained a friendship with the chancellor which has grown stronger since "saving" him from Greivous in Episode II. Palpatine secretly encourages Anakin, telling him that love and his unborn children (he found out!) are more important than the Jedi Order. Obi Wan meanwhile, is investigating the Chancellor's dealings as the war moves into an endgame.

Early in the film we see Anakin defeat Dooku, but not before Dooku reveals that he knows about his relationship with Amidala and threatens her life, doing so in front of Obi Wan. Obi Wan is torn between his devotion to the Jedi Order and his friendship with Anakin and ultimately decides to say nothing, but as the birth of the twins nears Anakin is sent to the front to fight in a culminating battle (a combination of manipulation from Palpatine and Anakin's unwillingness to share the information.) Anakin goes to the front to fight in what will be the deciding battle of the war. OBi Wan goes to approach Amidala, who dies in childbirth (complications from carrying twins). Knowing his failure, he then secrets away the twins, agonizing over whether or not to inform the Jedi Council and goes directly to Yoda.

Anakin learns of Padme's death during the battle and is pretty dark side pissed thinking he could have done somehting about it and makes some rash decisions which gain victory but cost a lot of lives. Meanwhile Palpatine is outed as the Sith Lord (somehow, in a very tasteful way) and Anakin arrives in time to kill Mace Windu and then act on Palpatine's behalf executing Order 66. Obi Wan and Yoda hear about this and then take the kids to their respective parents before splitting up to fight the Sith, Anakin and Obi Wan fight on Mustafar with the same result, as do Yoda and the Emperor.
