ISD docking with Death Star

Is the Equitorial Trench on the Death Star designed to allow docking with an ISD, or is the transfer of cargo and personell done solely through shuttles?
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

With what we've seen in the movies....I don't think so.Lord Sander wrote:It should be entirely possible to dock the Executor, considering the size of the equitorial trench.

If you look at all the docking bays we've seen before the Falcon docked they are too small for the Executor.
I very much doubt the ENTIRE trench only has those tiny docking bay types we saw used for shuttles and freighters.Soontir C'boath wrote:With what we've seen in the movies....I don't think so.

Only at most the Star Destroyer length and size seams feasible for those docking bays.
The only problem is that all of you guys are facing is "might" "could be" and etc. We're assuming here.SPOOFE wrote:And I very much doubt that the equatorial trench was the only place on the entire surface that had docking ports.
Safe assumptions, I might add. Note that I'm not referring specifically to hangar bays for Star Destroyers. The only problem is that all of you guys are facing is "might" "could be" and etc. We're assuming here.
Ok ok ok...Now I think we're at a misunderstanding here.SPOOFE wrote:Safe assumptions, I might add. Note that I'm not referring specifically to hangar bays for Star Destroyers. The only problem is that all of you guys are facing is "might" "could be" and etc. We're assuming here.
Further... doesn't the novelisation mention that, when the Devastator flies towards the Death Star, it's intended purpose was to dock?
The Executor going completely inside the Death Star may be unfeasable, but the definition of docking (in space, anyway) is two spaceships physically connecting. And the original question was whether shuttlecraft had to be used in any transfer or if they could dock. Well, it's a safe assumption to say they don't need shuttles or transports because they can physically connect to handle transfers.Soontir C'boath wrote:All I said was that the Executor wouldn't be able to dock in the Death Star not a Star Destroyer.
Those must be some long transfer cylinders because I wouldn't want that large ship close to the Death Star.Lord Sander wrote:The Executor going completely inside the Death Star may be unfeasable, but the definition of docking (in space, anyway) is two spaceships physically connecting.
