Do you mean body armor?

I think he means the body glove to their actual armor.

I mean the black bit between the armor.

That would be the body glove not body sock.

Well, we know its strong enough hold pressure. Star Wars has huge leaps in material sciences over modern earth, the stuff might offer the protection of a half dozen Kevlar layers or it might have the strength of 25mm of RHA steel.

I'm just pulling this out of my ass, but I'd think it would be as denim is to kevlar weave.

Lets look at it this way, itwasn'tstrong enough to stop the shrapnel from the Tantive IV's walls, that was blasted into the neck area of a stromies suit by Leia in ANH.

The reason I was wondering was because I was trying to furge out that if a group of Stormies were to enter Lothlorien whether they could be fought off, as Elves could easly hit that.

As it's allegedly made from a Kevlar-like material, I suppose it would provide some protection against incoming fire, but not that much.

The gloves would be pierced by elven longbows. Those were basically english longbows and those suckers could peirce plate armor. The body glove isn't that tough.

What kinda armour was Thrawn wearing under his tunic the first time he visited Wayland. He took a crossbow bolt right to the side and it bounced off.

He could quite possibly had his tunic weaved from a very strong material designed to dampen energy blasts and stop said arrows. He was, after all a Grand Admiral, and they don't walk around without protection.

"The words were barely out of his mouth when, without warning, an arrow flashed toward them from the right. It struck Thrawn in the side, barely missing the yslamir tube wrapped around his shoulders and back, and bounced harmlessly off the body armor hidden beneath his white uniform."- HttE, P.38
Seems to me it hit more like the equivilent to stormie armor.
