Which of course is mostly because of spite and them jumping on the "anti-Star Wars" bandwagon...

Considering that the SFX in Episode II were light-years beyond what was even in LotR:TTT--considering that a lot of the time, you couldn't even tell that a location was CGI--it should have won an Academy Award for that.

The script could have been better, I'll admit, but Hayden's acting was at least half-decent. Don't the Hollywood morons have anything better to pick on?

Well at least it didnt win Worst Picture. Madonna was the big loser this year. She won for Worst Picture (Swept Away), Worst Actress (Swept Away) and Worst Supporting Actress (her cameo in Die Aanother Die.)

I agree, but LOTR:TTT is going to win the acedamy award for SFX. Because the academy doesnt like Lucas, LOTR is the "in" thing right now, and of course Gollum.

Personally, I thought the CG Yoda was more of an achievment then Gollum. With Gollum, they mapped the actors face and body and matched the CG puppet to the actors movements. With Yoda, the entire performance was animated by hand in the computer. Id be really surprised if AOTC wins SFX.

I for one liked Hayden Christiansen's acting, sure he didn't have the best dialogue, but the way looks and acts, especially towads the end of AOTC, you can see a dark side growing in him.

EDIT: Was Hayden even a supporting actor? I thought he was a main actor.

I thought Hayden put in one of the best performances seen in a Star Wars film even if he had a couple of cheesy lines (mainly the fireplace scene for me, rest wasn't bad)

I think he did his best acting in the "I slaughtered them..." scene.

I agree. While he didn't have the best lines, he conveyed his inner darkness perfectly...

I just hope they didn't give it worst screenplay for the "cheesy" flirting between Aniken and Padme. But then again they're probably too dumb to ge tthe point of that.

It was the look in his eyes like when he was suggesting to padame that a Dictatorship works better than a Republic. He looked like a guy with rage growing in him. Star Wars is the biggest movie franchise EVER and it winds up those holywood morons something shocking because Lucas was able to build what those assholes can only dream of.

The only Razzie AotC would have deserved is the "Worst Screen Couple" Razzie mostly far all those cheesy lines. I haven't seen this Madonna movie that won that one, maybe they were even worse.

As for SFX, I think that TTT should win the Oscar. It is not just the quality of the effects, but also the way in which they are used and Jackson did integrate the SFX in to the movie better then Lucas.

You obviously didn't get what the cheesy lines were included for. Think about Anikens life up to AoTC and then think about Padme's life up to AoTC and see if you can figure out why the cheesy lines were a good thing.

If that's what those awful lines were included for. If it is it's not clear that he's tryingt to do that... and Lucas does have a legendary repuation for being hamfisted when it comes to dialogue.

If that is why the lines were were so poor (and I highly doubt that) the "Worst Screenplay" Razzie is justified as well.
The lines are simply crap, making crappy lines on purpose is dumb.

It probably wasn't his intention to show it, but i think it did. While AoTC wasn't the best film last year it was still pretty damn good IMO, and i'm getting pretty annoyed at film critics for slating not just AoTC but other good films, all the time while hailing Titanic as a master piece!

While the fireplace scene was ugh, Hadyen does a fine job with the rest fo the movie. He's a whiney bitch (showing his rebeliousness) throughout it, a terrifying monster after he kills the Tuskens, fuck, I even liked him talking politics with Obi-Wan at the hotel, and with Padme in the fields.

As for SFX, TTT is good, in fact great, but it simply cannot compare to Star Wars. If its one thing the critics just can't critizie Lucas about is that the SFX are breathtaking, spectacular, truly in a leauge of their own. From something that is so mundane in the SW universe (Coruscant), to the lan dbattle to end 'em all, Geonosis.

Although I'd bet they think he uses them too much, they can't critize how extradonarily well done they are, and on what scale they're done.

I talked with an aspiring scriptwriter, and he remarked that Titanic is just Romeo and Juliet in a quasi-historical setting.

Rather unoriginal.

I agree and to top it off except for the ship sinking it is bad historically as well!

Admit it guys you liked seeing Leo die at the end of the movie, and your right about the Oscars its useless the majority of the academy jerks who give the trophies never saw a movie in their entire life, thanks to the bribing game and the famous casting couch.

I for one would like to see the birth place of the Titanic getting more of a mention in the movies. Incidently the shipyeard where the Titanic was build closed it's doors for the last time on friday. in 2 months i'll be a theme park.

I never saw the end of the movie. All five times a female friend dragged me to it (for some reason all my friends like to drag me along to movies I don't want to see), I feel asleep. I never got past the "Iceberg, right ahead!" line.

I agree, but it was still rather pathetic. Two-thirds of our Drama department on campus could have delivered his lines better. He just didn't click with the rest of the actors, IMHO. He just didn't have the je ne sais que that makes an actor good rather than mediocre.

On a related note, AOTC failed to get Best SFX for the Oscars.
