Hot news for Han Solo fans!
Latino Review reporter Umberto "El Mayimbe" Gonzalez appeared on Fox News Latino today to break the news that Harrison Ford will definitely be back to reprise the role in Star Wars VII, slated for 2015.
Rumors have been swirling since November, but Gonzalez is the first to claim he has confirmation.
"I found out yesterday. I did my due diligence, like I do with everything. Triple checked. Legitimate sources...His deal is done," Gonzalez said.
Ford and Lucasfilm have not yet confirmed anything, beyond that J.J. Abrams will direct.
Although Ford said in an ABC interview in 2010 that he thought Solo "should have died in the last" Star Wars film, Entertainment Weekly reported in November that Ford was interesting in playing the role once more.
The Latino Review has a strong reputation for breaking film news, notes Total Film.com, so it looks like we can all start debating whether Ford, 70, should return.

Its already being discussed, but it deserves its own thread.
If this is true, it pretty much confirms (if there was still uncertainty) that this film will be set decades after the Original Trilogy.
It'll probably be a supporting role given Ford's age and the possibility of a new protagonist.
I hope they can also get Fisher and Hamill to act in it. Having them reunite, even for just a few scenes, would be incredible.

Dude... Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill look HORRIBLE. I don't want to see them reprise their roles quite honestly.

In all likelihood they'll just be cameos or will stick in the background as mentors. Unless Disney is going ass-backwards with this, there'll be a completely new main cast.

Cameo's they'll still look horrible in. I've not kept up on Carrie Fisher, but Mark Hamill has indeed not aged well. Followup movies that use the OT characters should have been done half a decade before the PT or so.

Dude Carrie Fischer looks like she got hit by a truck with a huge haul of ugly face first. And her voice, dear god not her voice... It's barely tolerable as a pity-job doing unmemorable characters on Family Guy.

I don't know about Cary Fisher's voice, but as far as looks are concerned, make up and CGI can fix a lot.
And I have no doubts about Hamill's voice.

Hamill was the Joker. He may not have aged well visually but there's nothing wrong with his voice.

That's pretty much what I just said.
And I don't care if he looks old if the character is old.

There's looking old, and there's looking old. I mean Sean Connery looks old (which he has every right to, considering he is), and has for a long time. Sir Alec Guinness did even back in ANH. But they both looked old in a good way. Hamill-not so much.

You have a point about Hamill. He looks strange. But I'm sure CGI can help.
I don't think Fisher looks too bad. Maybe she looks a little older than she is, but not terrible.

Dude she looks like she fell out of the ugly tree, hit every single branch on the way down, and then landed in the fat bush.
In fact she is so fat and ugly that her name should now be Phud.

And
at the "Mark Hamill is too old" bullshit. Ford is older. Granted he looks better, but still.

Flagg, CGI can deal with Fisher's appearance just as well as with Hamill.
And the fact that you appear to be rejecting Fisher based mostly on her appearance while barely mentioning the appearance of Hamill, who looks worse, reeks of sexism.

I'm not rejecting Fischer at all. Just marvelling at how fucking ugly she is now compared to 30 years ago.

I'd like to clarify this: do you or do you not believe that Carrie Fisher should not be cast in this film based primarily on her appearance?
And somebody looking a lot uglier in their fifties than in their twenties is not surprising. There are people who look better at that age, but her appearance doesn't seem extraordinary.

I don't care if she's cast or not.
And imagine her in that metal bikini now. Try not to throw up on your keyboard.

I find that image amusing, but I doubt we'll see her in a metal bikini again. If she appears, she'll probably be a high ranking Jedi or politician and dress appropriately.

What? Nah, they aged just right for some roles. Hamill isnt that bad but yeah, Carrie Fisher...
But why Ford? Isnt he the only one witha live action career outside of SW?

Meh. At her age, I'm not going to expect her to act as fan service. The worst that happens for them if they decide to do this is that they get put on a very tight exercise regimen to get them to look like they could still do some ass kicking.

I dunno. I've been checking out some current pictures and Fischer doesn't look nearly as bad as Flagg is saying. Really, if she spent some time in the gym, which I am sure she will if she decides to do the movies, she will look OK.
It also depends on what she is. If she is an elder statesman type politician, which was what she was and what she would probably be, something I never had a problem with the EU doing, that has been campaigning and sitting behind a desk for 30 years her physical appearance is far lest important than if she decided to take up the mantle of Jedi. If it is the latter, I imagine she is doing crunches as we speak.
Hamil though... well it's not so much that he didn't age well, but just that he looks like he never got any plastic surgery done and looks really bad comparatively to Ford and he doesn't look like he goes out of his way to keep in shape. Now we know he is going to be a Jedi Master so you gotta believe he needs to get into better shape for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually gets a few nips and tucks before shooting begins even if it is just a cameo.

that Ford was interesting in playing the role once more.
perhaps he needs the money?
As for Carrie, she's lost the weight that made her look horrible, and isn't too bad considering Grandma is 57 this year.

Update regarding Hamill's involvement:
http://ca.ign.com/videos/2013/02/20/new ... pisode-vii
Recent reports have surfaced that Harrison Ford is indeed set to return for Star Wars: Episode VII and that the film will focus on the Skywalker and Solo children. Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, spoke recently to clarify his involvement and talk a bit about the possible return of Luke, Leia and Han Solo.
I've only included a short quote because its mostly a video, not an article.
Edit: an interesting part is that Lucas apparently promised Han, Luke, and Leia will not be recast.

If they aren't recast, that means kids.

I figure we're going to have at least one descendant as the protagonist. The question is weather they'll use someone from the EU or just make up an original character.
