How to calculate Lower limit of Bothawui firestorm

The planetary shield's down," she snapped, getting out of her chair and rushing to the viewport. She reached it just in time to see a third massive turbolaser blast burn its way from the underside of the ship toward the surface. There was a flash of white as it sizzled through the atmosphere; and then the distortion cleared, leaving an angry,black-tinged red glow behind. Drev'starn, the Bothan capital, was on fire.
Taken from Spectre of the past novel

So........ how would I go about finding the physical constraints of this? I mean, sure, I can assume a one radian arc and then simply assume that Leia was in low earth orbit, but I have no idea how to slot in figures for illumination.


Another lower limit might have been to assume that the red glow is that of slag glowing into space, but how would I go about setting in materials?
