Balance to the Force (A theory)

I was thinking recently about a Fanfic that I have considered writing, and I stumbled along a theory. My concept was Luke and Leia finding an ancient Jedi who has lived and fought during the Sith incursions thousands of years ago, who left the Jedi Order, hoping to find a way to end the factioning of the Force. Thats all I got

Now my theory what if "Balance to the Force" just means no more good side and Darkside. An end to the Factioning of the force, as impossble as that seems, it would be a huge step in the evolution of the Jedi and the Force itself.

Righty-ho.

Does anyone know what the force *is*? Is it a mystical energy, a life force, what? It obviously grants telekinetic and precognitive abilities to sentients, but what *is* it, exactly.

If you knew what it was, you'd know why and how it would balance.

Then again, it could just be a Jedi myth. I wonder if the Jedi even HAVE myths, or if technology has pushed them beyond mythos?

In the movies it is clearly stated that the Balance of the Force represents the relative powers of the two sides. Thus, one side is no more powerful than the other (ie. The Darkside is growing, it is becoming harder to use their powers, etc.). To me, this indicates that even once the Force is balanced, the two sides will still exist, only in equilibrium.

Well true, but how is that necessarily a good thing. I mean the Jedi Council seem to look upon the Balance being a positive beneficial process. Equalizing both sides doesn't seem too positive to me, but hey I could be wrong.

It MAY not be a good thing, but if we connect it to the Eastern philosophies upon which the Force is loosely derived, we find that it is necessarily a stabilizing factor for the Galaxy, if the Force is properly balanced.
