I intend this thread for any new short stories as per the title indicates such as the short stories in the star wars insider magazine. the story I'm going to talk about is star wars Blade Squadron Zero Hour and iv got four words.

Planetary shields are back.
Ya I know the visuals of alderan going up seems to indicaite that but I think this is the first of the new cannon to aktoualy say planetary shields.

Interesting fighters can sync there computers to coordinate there fire. Also the combined firepower from a squadron of B-wings ion cannons can open up a hole in a planetary shield.

I thought this was interesting because fighters emitting ECM is likely standard MO for fighters and would explain that targeting in star wars is not necessarily that bad but instead enemy fighters would provide countermeasures to prevent accurate targeting.

Interesting that fighters can sync their computers to coordinate their fire. Also, the combined firepower from a squadron of B-wings' ion cannons can apparently open up a hole in a planetary shield.

I thought this was interesting because fighters emitting ECM is likely [SOP] for fighters and would explain why targeting in Star Wars is not [terribly] accurate. Fighters [can use ECM] countermeasures to prevent accurate target locks.

That said, thank you for making a thread for all the upcoming Star Wars short stories. I wasn't aware of a tie-in for 'Aftermath,' so I'll definitely be picking up that story as soon as possible.

Also, I wasn't aware that planetary shields had ever left...but I guess it is nice to see it written in with the new Disney-Star Wars Universe (DSWU). (Kind of like MCU, for Marvel.)

It is my first language I'm sorry I was never good at sentence structure and those kind of thing when I was in school.

As far as I know the only indication of planetary shields is the Alderaan destruction scene. Were we see the energy from the death star super laser briefly spread over the planet but I could be wrong.

And you're right-while we here at SDN have accepted the ANH destruction scene as evidence of planetary shields, that position seems to be far from universal. It's nice to see the nucanon say they exist (though that's a pretty wussy planetary shield if a squadron of B-wings can poke a hole in it).
And personally, as someone who complained about that before, I think Pooky's english is getting better.
