Star Wars: Vader Down

In this comic, Darth Vader tracks down Luke Skywalker to a planet called Vrogas Vas. In his TIE fighter, he comes across some Rebel X-wings doing maneuvers. Dr. Aphra warns him to get out of there, but he basically slaughters Blue and Yellow Squadrons. Luke Skywalker senses him and engages in a one-on-one starfighter duel.

Notes with minimal spoiler effect:

- It is always great to see Vader showing off his skills as a fighter pilot, like he did in Rebels.
- The first X-wing Vader destroyed had the callsign Blue five. In the first novelization of A New Hope, Blue Five was Luke's call sign.
- whoever wrote Triple Zero's dialogue clearly channeled Anthony Daniels.

I just finished it. Nice to see Vader flex his powers against multiple opponents. If that's the kind of warrior he was expecting Luke to be like, it's no wonder Vader felt it necessary to encase him in carbonite.

Looks like this is a crossover event that spans all the other currently running Star Wars comic book series. I just finished part 2 in Darth Vader #13 and part 3 in Star Wars #13. Anyone else reading it?

Darth Vader #13 confirms that Triple Zero sounds like Anthony Daniels.

Triple Zero and HK-47 should hang out.

Is that at all a reference to the Traviss novel? Or is it just the droid's designation 000?

It's just his name. No reason was given for it so far.

It's a droid brain that appears to have been designed for black ops. If you asked me to guess, I'd say it was a reference to James Bond's 007 codename.

Good; because I've been reading the comics with the same voices

Marvel is pulling some weird shit with this crossover event. They had published a Vader Down #1, but the rest of the event is taking place in the other monthly titles so there's no actual Vader Down #2. I just read part four of the arc in Darth Vader #14. Here's a nice sample page...
