The son of Palpatine

Post by Next of Kin »

Does anyone remember anything about Trioculus. I thought that he was the supposed son of Emperor Palpatine. Was his claim true or was it thrown out?

Trioculus was a moronic slave lord on Kessel who's resemblance to the real mutant son of the Emperor and his possession of the glove of Vader fullfilled the (false) prophecy of the (ersatz) Prophets of the Dark Side and thus became the centerpiece of an attempted coup'd'etat of Isard by a conspiracy of Grand Moffs. It failed, naturally.

He lost it and vanished utterly. What the real question is, what happened to HIS son, the Emperor's grandson. Kenith Palpatine. :P

Unfortunately, it has been referenced in a few books. This was actually the first series of SW books I read, and it is really atrocious. However, I would personally count it as being wiped from continuity, via The Courtship of Princess Leia (not only a good book, but it also wipes this horrible series from continuity).

Wow, I'm way behind on the EU...Palpatine had a son? Or are you guys kidding? ;) (Trioculus sounds real...Kenith sounds made up, LOL.)

Granted, I hypothesized that Vader might be Palpatine's son (no immaculate conception there...he somehow impregnated Shmi knowing her son would be a powerful Force user), but I laughed that off, thinking, Nah...no way Force Lightning will hit THAT spot twice in Star Wars! ;)

And of the mother? Is it a mystery?

Palpatine having a son is completely idiotic, I might add.

Triclops is the Emperor's son. Kenith has virtually disappeared from continuity.

Doesn't work that way. KJA referenced it in The Essential Chronology.

We're not kidding. I wish we were. An absolutely horrible series of children's books had the Emperor as the father of a three-eyed man named Triclops, with a kid named Ken as the grandson. And also a conference of Grand Moffs called a "Mofference" (it burns, it burns!).

He did? Fucking KJA. I guess Han and Leia just forgot about their first marriage, then.

I'm tempted to ignore everything not directly referenced in the Chronology.

Ah, Trioculus. "But without three eyes he could never achieve perfection!"

I simply can't believe that this abomination is an offspring of Emperor Palpatine I.

Well he wasn't. LFL should be burned at the stake for allowing this to continue to pollute continuity.

I believe EU is really trying to push things too far. Me... erm, Palpatine have a son? What nonsense! I really can't believe such media are actually published. Was Palpatine married? I don't think so. And being a Sith, I don't think he'll marry anyone because 'Love' isn't in the formula for being a Sith.

Really, I read EU just to try and see if an author can 'make big' those minor characters shown in the movies. That's the interesting part. Meddling with a major character's past and future is not the thing to do. Look at them try to write Boba Fett's history (he with some odd name as his real name and all.). I would like to see the look on those author's faces when AOTC came out.

Personally I prefered the more mysterious and austere history of Fett. As a man he was always supposed to be almost...anonymous..

I think GL's inserting of Fett in AOTC was a needless revisionism to try and bring pack a popular character and milk more cash.

Ahhh yes heheh, I have one of the books containing Triclops. Heheh horrid to read about it. It almost portrays Luke as if he was in ANH lol.

The book was published in 1993 so you can see.... :P

I only have book two of the series, so I've no clue what happened to Triclps. It cost me like 2 dollars too.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

It doesn't really matter as they seem to be ignored by the Eu at large. I mean they've been blatantly contradicted on most of the major plot points. Only minor details seem to have survived. I'd say it's safe to say that it's now been discarded.

Here's a "synopsis" of the third book of that series:

And before you ask, no it wasn't that ludicrous. But close.
