Do you think that there will be any of these Star Destroyers in number 3? I would like to see some, especially moving through the atmosphere of some planet.

I hope so.
Maybe if we E mail GL and ask nicely

No. I will literally eat a hat if there are (and provide photos). It's not that I don't want there to be any, it's just that there won't be. It would be an unprecedented borrowing from the EU by GL. Besides it would be pretty unoriginal (yeah, I know the VSD is based on old ANH sketches, but that doesn't change the fact that it would be unoriginal for EIII).
Besides, I would much prefer bigger ships. VSDs are pretty puny. I want some five-milers.

Very well, I will choose the hat that you will eat, MUHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAH!!!!
Anyways, Victorys aren't that puny, and having five-milers would kind of dwarf the Imperator-class star destroyers, which are supposed to be and improvement upon the older models.

Id be happy to see any capital ships in the friggin movie. A Dreadnaught, or even a Bulk Cruiser or Nebulon-B...Or would that be asking too much of GL? And VSD's should be in the movie. Seems that according to most documentation (granted most is WEG and EU) that those vessels were in operation during the Clone Wars.
I just want to see the big ships in action and not being used as either scenery or glorified airbases.

I really don't mind either way.

There's no reason to think he would not, because he has used expanded universe stuff before, like the hot-ass Jedi, Aalya Secura, in AOTC

Never seen her before?*goes to check dvd* She is a bit of a cutie
I hope there is the large ships in it, maybe then it will fully clarify for me graphically how these vessels fight, if it is by battleship-style broadside, or by un sychronised, independantly targeted guns.
But whatever GL want he will do...Oh great, knowing him it'll be something daft like a Minmei style song that defeats the Clone Armies, or a Giant space hamster or something...

BOO!!!!
Anyway....yes....I like the chick with the lightsaber
As for VSD's.....I'd be happy with some sort of BDZ!

VSDs would fit into established EU continuity quite well....which is why we'll never see them. Don't get me wrong, some (*some*) of GLs original designs are cool, but others are lacking. I think it would be nice to see some VSDs
andsome originals.
Aalya Secura is one fine Twi'lek. Mmmmmmm Twi'lek por-errrr...yeah....

Why are Twi'leks so desirable? I find them so, but I can't figure out why?
Well, if the YT-2400 made it into the SE ANH, and Coruscant made it into TPM, why not the VSD?

GO FOR THE EYES BOO! GO FOR THE EYES! RAAAAGH!* and other miscellaneous statements from that legend of Baldurs Gate, minsc.
That aside, it would be good to see some original designs. I reckon we might, as the designs for vessels/vehicles in AOTC were fairly good. Well, except for the glorified Munched-donut known as a Trade Federation Battleship...yuck..
Maybe a post should be started in Artwork and photos on the delights of the Twi'lek form?
Sad and deprived...I certainly belong here:D

Not only do I know they won't be in it- I'm glad they won't be. I want to see massive battleships that make Star Destroyers look like tugboats.

What about the "hunchback" battlecruiser seen in orbit around Byss in Dark Empire?? (it's never mentioned, but it's part of the Byss fleet and escorted by a single ISD, which it dwarfs)

Wasn't the Radiant VII modeled off an old OT design that wasn't used before. Joe Jennings's, IIRC?

List of predictions:
There will NOT be the following:
Victory Star destroyers
BDZ's
Thrawn
BDZ's
and definately NO BDZ's.
There will most likely not be the following:
Massive space battle to rival or surpass ROTJ. The movie starts at the END of the clone wars so any chance for massive space battle will be over. We MAY get one at the very begining of the movie as the final battle of the Clone wars but I doubt it somehow. Lucas is far more intent on telling Anakin's story and let's face it, he has about 2 hours to make a reasonable rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker, he has NO TIME for some of these fanboy fantasies.

I'm pretty sure GL would incorperate a big space battle hopefully with fighters. But it would rather quick and most likely at the begining of the movie and then it will go off showning Anakin in a fighter in this battle. And he would destroy some big thing or help destroy it. And then on to Anakin's story.

Sucks.
BDZ's
Also a sucky idea.
Thrawn
Worst fanboy idea ever.
BDZ's
Sucky.
and definately NO BDZ's.
Good thing you mentioned that one more time.

Disagree. The ROTJ space battle was, in a word ... lame. It's easily surpassed, and considering that we haven't seen jack shit wars in the stars in these prequels of a series called Star Wars, I'd say it's a definite.

Big space battle isn't a fanboy fantasy. It's a necessary end to the Clone War. You can't just start a movie off and say- yeah, the Clone Wars are finsiehd, moving right along ... not without something to let the audience know that they are over.

I see there being some potential for a large battle at the end of the movie. We know that Anakin falls in this movie, we also have confirmation that we see a fully suited Vader. If the movie takes place at the end of the Clone Wars then it also takes place at the start of the Empire. There is potential to have the new Imperial Fleet, under the command of Vader attack and subjugate some world that doesn't want the Empire. This could take place at the end of the movie and result in a glorious Imperial victory.

I wouldn't mind seeing VicStars.
Glidingng through space alongside the precursor of the Executors.
But we won't see them. A comeback of the IMPERATOR is far more likely.

Chronologically speaking, actually the introduction of the Imperator-class.
As for the Executor precursor, what about using some of the obscure EU warships such as a sister ship to Admiral Giel's flagship, or the "hunchback" battlecruiser seen around Byss in Dark Empire??

Of course, I was refering to a movie-comeback.

'course it's pretty unlikely we'll see any of the EU ships.
At most the Z-95, (though it became canon when E-I came out.)

You MUST be kidding. The ROTJ space battle is perhaps the greatest spacebattles ever to grace the silver screen. I certainly haven't seen a space battle on that SCALE ever before. Interesting too, even 20 years after ROTJ (happy anniversary ROTJ!), with all this new technology in a film-makers hands (looking at yo GL), no one has yet to surpass the ROTJ SBs excellence.
Also, you're right about one thing. Its called
Star Warsfor a reason. Ya know, the whole wars in space deal. in fact, throughout the entire saga, we have beared witness to but one true space battle - that of ROTJ. Yavin was puny on a sense of scale (although it kicks ass anyways) and had less to do with space as it did with manuevering over the DS. TESB had some asteroids...TPM had five minutes of some kid bitching about how hes gonna die, and AOTC had more asteroids.
Big space battle isn't a fanboy fantasy. It's a necessary end to the Clone War. You can't just start a movie off and say- yeah, the Clone Wars are finsiehd, moving right along ... not without something to let the audience know that they are over.
I hear ya. It would suck infernally to know we saw a SINGLE (read: ONE) battle of the Clone Wars in the entire saga. And I'm not settling for a ground battle either, we've had PLENTY of those throughout the trilogies (TESB, ROTJ, TPM, AOTC), we need to get a sense of scale about what this war. We need something that should blow the friggin' audeince away.

I thought the VSD dated from some developement artwork before it was mentioned in the EU.
And I want to see "General" Kenobi in action. As a General.

There will be a HUGE space battle. This is The Clone Wars, not some insignificant rebellion.
Yes, the VSD was directly based on pre-production artwork. It first appeared in one of the first WEG books. Star Wars Sourcebook or [/i]Imperial Sourcebook[/i], IIRC. So around 1987 or '88.
