What if they quantum-armored a Star Destroyer?

With the cost of QC armor, it would probably bankrupt whatever warlord tried such a stupid thing.

They could just as easily spend that time and money constructing several other SD...which would probably be much more cost-effective and intelligent.

It'd make a really purty vessel.

Aside from the waste...it's sort of having one invincible tank when you could've had a battalion of normal tanks.

Won't win any wars, but it'll look nice.

Yeah, but the problem is that one ship can't do the work of many.

It can only be in one place at a time. If you were to spend that money on several SDs, then you can blockade and handle system problems, etc.

Theres also going to be weak points, and such a ship would cost so much it would have little if any support. After the shields are hammered down sheets of fire would find those unprotected points and exploit them.

If it was at the height of the Empire, then it would have been more effective than the SSD. Then at least it would have had support ships. However, yeah, it's almost pointless. Much like a planet destroying battlestation, or a united federation of planets. Who needs em?

Kinda useless, a Star Destroyer packs enough shielding and firepower to make it all but redundant, though if you really must do something like that, I reccomend Molecular Bonded Armor instead, helluva lot cheaper and still fucking strong.

I think it has potential as the spearhead for major assaults. Can you imagine? Full speed ahead.. straight to the heart of the enemy! Into hell's heart I stab at thee!!

Has some potential.. or if you're assaulting a major base like Coruscant or the Hand of Thrawn where you'll be trading tit for tat.

The guns on the Sun Crusher weren't armored. Concievably, the guns on this ISD could all be destroyed, reducing it a super-ram.

I doubt you could armor the engines or sensors either, meaning those could be killed as well as the guns.
