WTF is banned because it means What the Fuck. The idiotic thing is anyone who sees WT* will also see WTF. WTF is not a swear word, it is a polite way to represent what you want to say without actualy saying the curse. You might as well censor any word that means the same thing as fuck. That is absurd.

Think about movies put on TV where the curse word is completely blanked out. You KNOW what they are saying even though you don't hear it. You can't bitch though because the word isn't used. WTF is a way to say it without saying it. Funny thing is when I see WTF I automaticaly pronounce it as "what the fu" in my mind even when I know the full meaning is.

I am not leaping to conclussions when I say the board is screwed up. Its like a parent who tries to completely shield their children from swear words.

Personally, I think that anyone who wants to censor ANYTHING needs to be smacked with the "get a fucking clue, you braindead pile of festering goatshit" stick. What does naughty language do? It adds emphasis to a statement. That's it. That's all it does. It's no worse than adding a few exclamation points at the end of a sentence... except that naughty language, when overused, can eventually become commonplace... only to be replaced by other naughty language.

Personally, if it was up to me I'd censor only "hella" and "whiskey tango foxtrot", but that's just me.

On the topic, I once had a censor filter on my computer. It blocked out words like "condom", "pussy", "naked", "masturbate", and "murder", but had no problem with "fuck", and "shit". I'm sure it would make the censors over there jealous.

On the subject of crazy censorings, at Lego.com, when I signed up for a membership, I tried the name "Ashitaka," after the main character in Mononoke Hime. It of course informed me that I could not use this name, because, and I quote, it "may contain the swear word 'shit.'"
