Tractor Beam Range of Death Star I

Is there a way to determine the range of Death Star I's tractor beam? In particular by determining how far away DS1 is from the Falcon by how big it appears in the "sky" (you know, like trig stuff)?
Or is it possible that this has already been done?

It would be difficult to work out the actual range of the tractor beam, seeing as that they didn't notice it until they tried to turn around, which means that the tractor beam could have hit it from anywhere between seconds ago right back to when the DS was nothing but a sand-grain sized speck in the distance. But I guess we still can work out a minimum range based on the DS's apparent size when they first realised that they couldn't break free.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant: to determine a minimum range.

I'd ask Evil S'tan about it, Spanky. He seems to be the one who does that sort of stuff. (I think I asked him about that before... I dont remember his answer though.)
