How many AT-ATs did Veers lose?

I recently made a connection while rereading Shadows of the Empire.
The one Wdge brought down (seen in movie)
The one Luke sabotaged. (seen in movie)
Veers' walker, which was rammed by Hobbie. (novelization)
Another one brought down by Dash Rendar. (SOTE)
How many AT-ATs were left?

We don't know if in-continuity, Dash downed a walker.
I believe he said he helped "keep the walkers busy" or "took out a walker".
Even if it was the second, that could mean he shot up an AT-ST.

1...
Edit: Oh, well if that's the case, then 1 or 2.

You seem to think I'm talking about the game. I'm talknig about the NOVEL Shadows of the Empire, which is part of the timeline. In it, Luke says: "I remember you. You took down one of the Imperial walkers. You were pretty good."

Could have been an AT-ST as well. "Walker" is a little vague, isn't it?

*shrug* Except that Luke considered him "pretty good" and actually made a point about him taking down a walker. I doubt he;d do that if it were an AT-ST.

As I recall, he lost 3. Perhaps Rendar was in Hobbies and they both ejected before ramming Veer's walker? Or "walker" could refer to an AT-ST

You know what's really weird? I used to remember
seeing that scene in TESB. For some weird reason, I clearly remember Veers' AT-AT's head being rammed into with a snowspeeder, but I've never heard of that happening in the novelization until
now.
Maybe it's some weird sort of deja vu (sp?). I dunno...it's been bothering me for a while before that, because I've always remembered seeing that and on the tape I've never saw it again. I think I remember seeing it on another tape that my dad recorded off of TV...the damndest thing, eh?

Rendar's comment: "Pretty good? I SLEPT through most of that battle, kid." makes that unlikely.

The T-47s caused almost no affect on the Imperial assault; based on the fact they're unreliable and fragile civilian speeders with guns tacked on that did virtually no damage--destroying and AT-ST would be notable. Knocking out AT-ATs was considered all but impossible by the Rebels in T-47s. He'd be "REALLY FUCKIN GOOD" not "pretty good" if he took down a AT-AT.

It could mean
anything. What if Rendar dodged all of the AT-ST's fire and downed it on one pass or some stuff like that? Luke's dialogue isn't specific enough to jump to the conclusion that it was an AT-AT he downed. So I think it's better to say 1 or 2 AT-ATs survived.

Do we even know how many AT-ATs were deployed?

But how many AT-STs were present? I only recall seeing one or two.

Then he'd cretainly be a pilot and not Hobbie's gunner.

It also isn't specific enough to jump to the conlusion that it was only an AT-ST.
In addition, I don't recall seeing any other AT-ATs with Veers by the time he destroyed the shield generator. Does that mean all the other AT-ATs were destroyed or am I remembering things wrong?

I dunno...they seem pretty weak to me...it was destroyed in seconds from Chewie's AT-ST in RotJ. I think T-47 laser cannon fire would easily penetrate its armor, NTM completely knock it out of commission if a leg got damaged. I don't think AT-STs are too hard to down, unless there are swarms of them and are protecting each other's blind spots. However, we did not see this in TESB, and as a matter of fact there was only ONE sighted in TESB.

Correct me if I'm not right but:
The pilot who rammed into Blizzard-1 was Zev Senesca. (In the novelization)
Dash Rendar was piloting the T-47 which shot the crippled walker just above it's neck after it was brought down by Wedge and Janson.
As I remember there was at least five AT-AT's and probably more than just one AT-ST.

Wait wait wait wait! Veers died at Hoth?!?!?!?!?!?
He was like the only credible Imperial shown in the movies!

It was in the novelization but of course wasn't shown in the film. The EU puts him as being at the Battle of Balmorra.
Now THERE'S a contradiction you can hang your hat on.

Sorry to take this OT, but why didn't they just send out a couple X-Wings. They could have sat a long ways out and fired Proton Torps into the AT-ATs, stopping them dead in their tracks. Plus, their laser cannons might be capable of penetrating their armor.

The X-Wings were needed to escort the evacuating ships out of the Hoth System.

But they weren't in use during the attack, iirc.
I guess they would have been afraid of loosing the already stretched X-Wing squadrons, though.

I wondered why the Rebels didn't use X-Wings myself. According to X-Wing: Isard's Revenge, X-Wings are very good against AT-AT walkers. Take out the two front legs of an AT-AT walker witht the X-Wings' laser cannons and the walker is down.

That topic (use of X-Wings at Hoth) has been rehashed dozens upon dozens of times.

It is generally agreed that just two X-Wings could have defeated the AT-AT force. It is also generally agreed that the Rebellion couldn't spare that many. They were prepping the X-Wings as quickly as they could to escort the transports. It eventualy got to the point where they could only send one fighter per transport. The X-Wings were there mostly to kee the Ties off the transports since the ISDs were mostly neutralized by the ion cannon.

Nope, it was Hobbie. Zev was shot down.

Never heard that before. Where'd you get it?

I remember five AT-ATs and a single AT-ST.

I'm pretty sure he was only wounded and lost his legs.
