Hoth and the trip to the asteriod field

Was doing a little research on on Hoth and was pondering the chase of the Falcon...

How far was the Asteriod's belt from Hoth 5?

How fast was the falcon going when it was hit by the meteor that caught Hans attention?

Came up with some interesting possible answer.

Bode law's showed that Belt was over 2.92 AU from Hoth 5 and if The Falcon was accelerating all the way it would have taken him 11/2 hours to reach it ( being chase by the Imperials all the way). If the Falcon had an acceleration of 2000G he would be going close to 30 PSL...

At this point even a small micro meteor would strike like a A bomb...

what do you guys think?

The asteroid field was crazy. Sol's asteroid field is so diffuse that you could fly through it and never see an asteroid.

Which indicates that the TESB asteroid field was probably the result of the recent destruction of some celestial body. So it's technically a "debris field" rather than a true "asteroid field".

Yeah, as Phil Plait points out, C3PO's statement about the odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field were ridiculous (note he didn't say "THIS asteroid field" and if he had, where did he get the technical data to make this assumption? I guess he was just spouting off nonesense).

Good point. Astroid fields in sci fi are always bigger and more exciting, and bear a closer resemblance to the ones in the classic arcade game "Asteroids" than the ones we know about in reality. ; )
