Very nice assessment! Very nice. I have one comment off the top of my head: Every time I watch the AT-ST fall after the log dance I get the clear impression that the main body warps slightly. Much like warping a square into a rhombus. Other than that... GREAT JOB :D

AAT at 100kph? Heavy repulsor tanks can make 300.

Repulsors were not replaced by walkers.
Presumably except the very powerful SPHA-T gun, which was capable of tearing apart a starship's armor, the AT-AT armor is invulnerable to any ground weapon.

You instantly assume the poor equiped weapons of the Rebels is a fair example of AT weapons.

The people of Star Wars never lacked ground combat vehicles, because they deployed shields, which prevented orbital bombardment by capital ships.

Gah, air power is not instant victory!

Well, actually I have never seen them make 300 in the movie, it's more likely that the speeders are capable of such speed. Where is that from? The ICS perhaps? I will mention that, but I don't like the EU figures much, sometimes they are being too big or too small.
Repulsors were not replaced by walkers.
They were, as we can see in the canon. If both armies (Seps and Republic) consist of walking machines, while 10 years before that the TF had a purely repulsorlift army, that means they shifted to walkers as being more useful than the repulsorlifts, or something prevented the use of reps on Geonosis, which means again that the walkers are more useful. I didn't see a single AAT or MTT on Geonosis, neither any repulsorlift tanks used by the Empire on Hoth or Endor.
The reasoning from EU (and the SWOS) is that the walkers could penetrate the shields, while the repulsorlifts could not (still strange, why didn't they transport the repulsorlifts with shields switched off and then use them, because the RL craft operates nicely under the shield (ESB snowspeeders)).
In the EU some RL tanks are also invented, but I try to avoid using EU too much. The EU machinery deserves separate analisys.

Well, we saw nothing bigger or better than that from stationery weapons, I think. And the rebels had a planetary ion cannon on Hoth, which operated quite well. I think their weaponry was fine. We haven't seen better AT weapons in EU, I think, too. And I haven't read about such weapons either.
If some exist, perhaps you could name me one or two?

Repulsorlift vehicles like the Chariot LAV are still used alongside walkers in some of the EU books; it would appear that they are mostly used as fast light-attack vehicles rather than heavy tanks.

Official evidence suggests that repulsorlift vehicles for some reason cannot "push" through an energy shield, wheras walkers can. Within the confines of the shield, however, they function normally.

That the AT-AT was destroyed by a self destruct is from the Canon novel, not EU.

AT-AT max firepower has been calculated to be a minimum of 17 KT based on the explosion seen in the movie, use the search function to find the thread.

Repulsor vehicles cannot pass through shields because they are not grounded. However, they are still used by the GE.

The Rebels were about to enter the walker when it suddenly exploded from within, hurtling great jagged chunks of torn metal at them, the impact of the blast flinging the stunned troops back against the snow.
It's not exactly self-destruct, just that it exploded from within (detonation of ammunition). Like in case of the AT-ST being hit in ROTJ, I think, the explosion sequences are similar.
