Hello. Being new here, and (unfortunately) having limited knowledge of the Star Wars universe presented outside of the movies, I was hoping someone could give me a brief overview of the history I am missing. Hopefully, this will reduce my opportunities to make a complete fool of myself until I catch up on the relevant subjects.

Erm... I think you should buy the Essential Guide to Chronology. It is kind of a SW history text.

Yeah, the Essential Chronolgy have let me skip out on most of KJA and Junior Jedi Retaired Crap.

Seriously, we can't really give you an abbreviated form of SW history. There's just too much information involved. You can ask for specific events, or something like that, but asking us to relate all of 100+ books worth of SW information is too great a request. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, but I really don't see how it's possible for me to explain everything to you in a few paragraphs.

Yikes! I didn't know I was missing that much! Well, if you can give me any info, great, but if you can't cover that much, thanks anyway.

Or, there's the SW Unnoficial Encyclopedia. I myself have yet to read many EU books.
