Lennox's random Star Wars thought of the Day: Religion in St

Post by Raptor 597 »

Just out of curiousty why does Han make the Refereance 'Hell' twice in ANH and ESB, I think. Some answers: Ancient faith with demons, ancient legends with Hell likely, there is a Star Wars faith perhaps native of Corellia unlikely, Galactic Faith highly unlikely.

Maybe that was the nearest equivalent translation in English to what Han was speaking in Basic. :D

Sorry, there was a recent thread that discussed whether SW was really in English or if they actually spoke another language that was translated in
the movies by a very good dubbing system. :)

Yeah, too bad we never know what they are saying. Interesting how they actually show Yuzzhan Vong Lanuage. Almost makes you think Basic=English.

I just chalk it up to suspension of disbelief, although I also like the way the Simpsons do things. "By an astonishing coincidence, our two languages are exactly the same."

"Hell" is pretty general, and many religions have a "Hell" of some sort. Different religions would origionate in the SW galaxy, and perhaps, there was a "galactic religion", like the Church of England.

Yes, like the Force.
But I thought it was contradictory to Han's statement: "Hokey Religions and Ancient Weapons are no good for a blaster at your side, kid." Probanly, they kept the word "Hell" to use as swears sort of..thats what I think

I was thinking the Force was not really a religion, but it is more of a belief shared by people of many creeds.
