Since TF Cruisers don't have Turbolasers (they are called Quad laser cannons). Wouldn't an Acclaimitor-Class ship out class one? I mean 200 GT HTL would annilhilate a TF BC.

probobly. We don't know how powerful the quad lasers were, but since they did not do substantial damage to a 76 meter long ship after repeated hits. They are really carriers, not battlecruisers, with only asf weaponry, so unless the droid starfighters and possibly bombers could overwhelm the acclamators.

The original ICS describes the armament on the TFBC's as anti-starfighter... rather large for anti-starfighter turrets, but, oh well.

The signs generally point to Trade Fed shis not being designed as combat vessels.

They're blockade vessels, designed to slap down transports that try to slip through. That's far more in keeping with the TF's aims (controlling and taxing trade routes) than is a dedcated warship, and also seems to represent the generally peaceful nature of the times (Naboo, as a capital planet for a district of space, has no protection outside of a small fighter group and a local police force)

Aren't they also supposed to be converted cargo ships?
I mean it'd make sense, a large part of the TF being a freight company and all.

They look similar, but that doesn't matter, since the TF battle ship has less space devoted to weaponry. I think there's about 46 of them, and they're not used for orbital ardment,s just destroying ships trying to outrun it. The AotC ICS mentioned 200-somethting 8-kiloton point defense cannons on the core.

The Tradefed cruiser firing on the yacht in Episode 1 didn't blow it out of the sky because it wasn't trying to.

- it first bracketed the target with fire to prevent it from moving
- took out the shield generator
- repeatedly blasted off the astromech droids rather than hitting the ship itself. It is exceedingly unlikely this is chance- consider the size difference between the yacht and the droids.

I always found it strange why the Quad Turrets on the TF Cruisers are so huge if they arent if even Turbolaser class. The only reason I can think of is that since the TF is a highly capitalistic organization they likely armed their vessels with the cheapest weapons possible so they could just have a large fighting force while maintaining as much profit as they can.

They are probably outdated cannons that are easy and cheap to maintain but are from a time when the laser cannon technology and components hadn't yet been shrunk down to the point we usually see them as.

Or they may have actually be Turbolaser class weapons originally but they had to be stripped down to firing only low power anti starfighter shots so that the Senate wouldn't see their ships as being such a major planetary threat.

Good point. The Trade Fed did say that they needed amidala to sign the treaty, and I would say that they would have known that she was on that ship.

I was thinking it was because the size of the cannon isn't related with the firepower, and the power cells for the TF TLs are smaller, and away from the cannon.

in the game battle for Naboo the battle ship was easy to fight because most of the ships wepons were easily avoidabol all you had to do is fly in a blind spot and do damage from there. So any real war ship could out class it in any fight. Ddnt the AotC ICS book say that the TF had built true warships before the clone wars started.

Let's not forget something else: What was the Queen's ship flying away from? Naboo. What was behind them relative to the TFBC's point of view? Naboo. Where did the TF have a massive invasion force? Naboo. What would have been hit if a TF shot missed? Naboo. What did they NOT want to hit? Naboo.

I'd guess that this also played a part in them choosing to turn down the power to their guns.
