Who wins?

My money on Vader.

Vader.

His power rivaled Palpatine's by ROTJ, he's the Chosen One, and destroyed all the Jedi stragglers, including some very powerful and well-skilled Masters, like the Dark Woman.

Vader would probably be able to limit Maul's movements well-enough to win this one.

Maul was beaten by Ben Kenobi, who was beaten by Vader. Anybody see where this is going?

Leap in logic.

Surely you can debate better than simply saying that because one individual beat one, and that one last lost to another, that it is quite sure that the first would lose the second?

Fine then, no joking around.

Vader would have a couple years more traing behind him. He has access to a wider range of abilities because of his greater strength in the Force. Also, his machine components might give him a greater advantage because they would augment his strength and mental abilities.

Vader uses a sensible weapon. Maul uses a suicidal weapon. Vader would win.

Uh wasn't this shown in the comics and Maul won? Does that mean anything?

Vader defeated Maul after a kickass battle in SW Tales, I osted a thread regarding this.

Several Dark Side heretics resurrected Maul in order to give Palpatine a proper apprentice. They lured Vader in using a rumor of stolen Death Star plans as bait.

Vader and Maul fought long, towards the end of the battle maul was about to Win when Vader gained a second wind and destroyed Maul, giving way to one of the coolest scenes in any Comic.
"What could you hate enough...to destroy me?"

"Myself"
Vader's power coming from his hatred of Anakin Skywalker, it's just, awesome.

EDIT: Here's the original thread

Let's not forget that Maul is half the man Vader is.

If you are talking Vader from RotJ, then I have to vote for Maul. In RotJ Vader is old and getting weak, and he was beaten by Luke. Luke had some training but from what we see onscreen he was no whiz with a lighsaber and neither was Vader in RotJ. From what we saw in TPM Maul was IMHO pretty damn good with a saber, he held off two Jedi killing a Master. The fact that Maul was killed by Kenobi is irrelevant, Maul got cocky after killing the more experienced Jedi and let his guard down a bit. Hell even the old Kenobi had sucky sabre skills as seen in ANH. Old age tends affect people that way. Dooku was just good regardless, imagine him in his prime. And Yoda being old and fighting... well he went right back to his walking cane afterward so his fighting was definitely force enhanced.
Now if you take a younger Vader then I could believe him defeating Maul. Just not the RotJ Vader.

Vader is stronger in the Force, but Maul is better with a sabre. It would depend on if Vader used his powers (Force speed, push, Dark Rage, etc.) If he used them a lot, then Maul would DIE

But since Vader never seems to use Force powers in duels, Maul would WIN Image

Actually, I think RoTJ Vader was so surprised by Luke's Dark Side rage that he didn't fight as well as he normally would have.

Clearly you never watched the movies. If you did, you would see Vader using his powers in TESB and probably (if we are lucky) in Ep. III.

There's nothing in RotJ to indicate that Vader was old and weak, at least physically. Luke was the only one who could defeat Vader. Not because of superior skill (Luke was a novice at best), but because he was Vader's son. Its clear that Vader held back during every confrontation. Even when he cut off Luke's hand in tESB, he was restraining himself, because he wanted his son ALIVE.

At Grudge Match they call it THE RAGE. For example, in the Flanders vs. Wilson fight, one could argue that Flanders's fanatacism could give him wrath mighty enough to topple his foe. Or the Godzilla vs King Kong match, in which both contestants have anger presumably due to awful remakes. Or even the Ensigns vs. Stormtroopers match in which both sides can be enraged by a will to live, not to mention sexual frustration("No women" for Stormies, "Kirk bags all the babes" for Redshirts).[/img]

Vader never used more than rudimentry force skills against Luke. Thsi si mentioned several times in EU. Most especially in The Courtship of Princess Leia. Luke is fighting the head force witch and she uses the force to burst the blood vessels in his head. As Luke is "dying" he muses that this is what his battle with Vader would have been like if Vader hadn't been messing with him trying to twist his mind and turn him.

Maul, from the EU i've read Shadow Hunter and TPM, is by no means a full Jedi Master. He is to Palpy what Luke was to Kenobi and Yoda, a weapon for realising their goals. Vader was a full Jedi then a full Sith Knight.

While dueling, all he ever did was subconsiously twist Luke. When he threw large objects at Luke, he just stood there, sabre down.

In RoTJ, he threw his sabre at Luke, and then pulled it to his hand with the Force. That's all the times Vader used the Force in combat with another Force user after ANH.

Vader would own Darth Maul. Vader was vastly more powerful.

In all seriousness, somehow Vader is going to be able to hunt down and kill hundreds of Jedi. Darth Maul's slaying of Qui-Gon brought his total up to THREE.

Exactly, yet we know that a Jedi with the Force as his ally is capable of WAY more than simple TK and saber throws.
