Interesting Ep. III Fan Art...

Concepts for Jedi Knight battle armor (a concept that will no doubt escape LFL and the EU alike which agrees Jedi in open warfare will ware nothing but cumbersome hermit robes).

Clone Wars Jedi Knight

Clone Wars Jedi Knight Attacking Battle Droid

Obviously the artist thinks this would provide another foreshadowing to the Vader suit and the coming rise of the Sith/fall of the Jedi while giving them kickass battle armor.

Wow, thats a pretty badassed idea and the art is cool to boot.

I like the idea that Darth Vaders suit is just a continuation/modification of Anakins battlearmor.

Very Cool, too bad Lucasfilm will have them still wearing Obi - Wans 'desert hermit' outfit.

They're keepers of the peace, not soldiers.

They've got the clones to fight their war for them now. They don't have to get their own hands dirty. The Geonosis battle was an anomaly, as was made very apparent by the fact that the Jedi obviously have little to no experience fighting in a large group.

Still, those are some really nicely done pictures.

Yes, the pics are nice.

Although I don't think that black dresses are very popular among the jedis.

I dig that "Samurai Clonetrooper"-style helmet!

"Realizing the clones will be fighting with Jedi, the Kaminoans order them to march single file to take advantage of the commanding Jedi's lightsabre" - Inside the Worlds of AOTC

Isn't there an upcoming figure of Anakin in the Clone Wars wearing armor? So maybe they do wear armor when they're fighting the actual war.

Actually, if this figure is any indication, battle armor for Jedi may appear in Ep III.

It's not nearly as cool as the stuff in the picture, but it's something.

NJO Jedi use body armor quite heavily.

Since when do "keepers of the peace" lead troops into battle?

Or are they the CIA advisors for the vietnam war?

Heh, I always envisioned them wearing Fett-esque armor myself.

Btw, Al rocks... Diary of a Crazed Mimbanite anyone?

And his Jedi Knight skins... some of the best! ; )

Anyway, I can buy them not having armor in AOTC since they had to mobilize so quickly. Though issuing them clonetrooper armor would have made sense and been quite feasible (what's 200 more suites?). Though it wouldn't have the same spectacle of seeing guys in brown/black robes running in front of groups of white clad troopers.

(Since otherwise it might look like a bunch of clones with one of them carrying a lightsaber).

They could have given the jedi black armor though, and capes (vader esque.. yeah!) or something to make them recognizable.

Since AOTC.

I guess my meaning wasn't clear.

1) Why are they so stupid, doing something they have no idea how to do?

2) If they want to be soldiers, why aren't they outfitted like them?

You're taking too much out of Windu's quote. They're capable warriors; but they can hardly fight whole wars or serve as the Republic's military. That was his point.

Furthermore, they didn't do too well as soldiers, and they were on a mission to rescue their own and stop a Dark Jedi (Dooku) which is generally their department.

In-universe answer: years of peacekeeping and simple policing duties by Jedi have left them without real military equipment or training.

Out-of-universe answer: ask GL. Ask him why all Jedi wear desert hermit robes too, while you're at it.
