OK, at the Battle of Endor, we know the names of Gold Leader (Lando Calrissian), Red Leader (Wedge Antilles), and Green Leader (Arvel Crynyd), but was Gray Leader, the commander of the B-wings, ever given a name or history?

That's all I got, not terribly canon though.

I don't know but as I remember the Grey Wing was equipped with Y-wings.

Edit: Spanky's pic shows the same.

I always figured that Gold wing took their name from the Y-wing squadron at Yavin, the same way Wedge briefly renamed Rogue Squadron 'Red Group'.

So that's General Salm, hmmm? Cool.

I thought the entire of Grey wing was wiped out. So he can't be General Salm of Defender Wing can he?
Maybe he ejected or maybe there are two General Salms who both happen to command bomber wings.

You can see the two grey stripes at the "chin" of the helmet. That's the flight color mark.

...and since there was no surviving Y-wings -as far as I know- he's not that Gen. Salm who we know from the X-wing books....or maybe he is? :wtf:

On second thought: if Red squadron consists X-wings, Green squadron A-wings, Grey squadron uses Y-wings...then Gold squadron -which were- led by Calrissian- consisted the Falcon and B-wings? :?

According to the novel, Gold Group was a potpurri of fighters. There also seemed to be some Y-wings in Green, some A-wings in Red, X-wings in Grey, and B-wings and A-wings make up Blue.

Perhaps 'Grey' is not a wing, but a package.

At the time of the Battle of Endor the Rebel fleet was amassing some victories and had to devote resources to defend these planets and systems. The Fleet that attacked the DS must have been made up of anything they could get their hands on at short notice. As such it would not be improbable that there where many mixed squadrons. Given the short notice of the attack i'd guess thet threw togeather anything they could get.

Wrong.

The force at Endor represented the cream of the Rebel Alliance fleet.

Pretty much everything worth sending they had available was sent. Keep in mind there could've been a lot more ships we didn't see. Apparently the Escort Carrier Flurry was there, and so were the dozen-odd Nebulon-Bs that were left over for an assault on the Ssi-ruuvi homeworlds.

The Imperials numbered nearly 30 ISDs, at least 1 Cruiser (the communications ship), and the Executor.

The Rebels had around 25 or 20 or so cruisers, a few command ships and heavier craft (2-3 Home One-class vessels), and lots of smaller frigates, destroyers, and escorts.

The assualt was planned much in advance and was hardly "scraped together."

In X-Wing Alliance you escort the fleet groups in to Sullust.

I don't think it was Gray Leader. His voice was different, and we did hear Gray Leader raise his voice when he said, "There's too many of them."

If thats the case how come the Rebels didn't provide more than 4 squadrons for the DS attack. We all know that Home One can carry more than 4 squads on it's own so where are the other fighters?

They were fighter wings not fighter squadrons. Rebel wings consisted of 36 fighters, so there were at least 144 rebel fighters

They weren't wings; they were packages.

I wouldn't be suprised if there were "off-screen" packages. Honestly there should've been a thousand fighters at least on the Rebel side.
