HTL's

Just a quick thought. In ROTJ during the battle of Endor there is a brief scene of what looks like to be a HTL exchange between and ISD and an offscreen vessel. The ISD fires a pair(?) of bolts from its portside batteries. Directly after that we see a single crimson bolt streak in and blow the entire ship to peices. I am assuming that the ISD lost its dorsal shield facing under heavy bombardment. Granted we dont see how long or how much damage it has taken in the meantime, so Im only going on what I saw.

Does this mean that when a ship has lost a shield quadrant that a single HTL shot can annihilate a ISD-sized vessel? Would this be indicative of a HTL's power level?

Yes, that was a HTL. And depending on where it hits it can take out the ship with a single shot. That one hit the superstructure and thus the top of the reactor going by ICS which is how it was able to take out the ship. There may have been other previos damage too, but that is indeterminate.

In the books, there are accounts of HTL's blowing a hole clean through an ISD so that you can see right through it.

*low whistle*

ack, that would make shield failure almost imminent death to a vessel then....would make SW ship combat very costly in terms of vessels
