Acclamator -> ISD scaling

I did some rough scaling on the Acclamator and ISD reactor sizes to try and figure out possible figures for an ISD, here's what I've got:

Code: Select all

Acclamator reactor
72m diameter sphere - volume: 195432m^3

Total output: 2e23w
Output density: 1e18w
Shield rating: 7e22w - 35% of reactor output

ISD reactor estimations:
165m diameter sphere - volume: 2352071m^3

Total output: 2e24w
Output density: 1e18w(derived from Acclamator scaling)
Shield rating: 7e23w - 35% of reactor output(derived from Acclamator scaling)

1) Reactor sphere for an ISD is 140 meters
2) 156 meters for the Acclamator sphere? I remember talking to you about this last year when ICS first came out and you said it was 70
3) an ISD has 25% of it's power sent to it's shields as per the quote from the Imperial sourcebook
4) According to my email to Saxton, reactor volume and power have a log - log relationship, not a linear one
5) Even if you were going to try and use a linear relationship, you'd need another datapoint, such as the DS reactor, before you could plot it to determine ISD power.
6) According to the ICS, an ISD has several reactors; the main one, and ones for each engines, discounting the numerous small fusion ones

Exactly what I was going to bring up.

The majority of the ISD reactor is not the sphere. And it is a lot larger than the Acclamator's according to SW ICS

HDS, how did you scale the Acclamator reactor anyways? Most of the bulb itself is obscured by the superstructure and hull plating in the ICS image I have.

I remember reading in one of the official publications that the Acclamator eventually evolves into the Imperator. I hope they mean in terms of design lineage and that Lucas doesn't try to pull something gay in EpIII like the Acclamators being "enlarged" into ISDs. There is a rumoured scene in EpIII with an ISD or ESD bridge. [It could be the Executor, but that would override the EU significantly, wouldn't it...]

Yes it is a precursor in the design lineage, yes there looks to be a SD bridge in Ep3

According to the blueprints I found at the SWTC it's 165m

I don't remember that, but the 156m figure is a typo, it's 72m according to my scaling.

Whats a log?

I used that image and some extrapolation, we saw roughly half of the thing anyway so a little mixing and such in photoshop allowed me to get an estimate on it.

There's always the VSD...

Checking myself I see multiple sizes. Whatever then.

Mathmatical concept. A log - log relationship means that the formula works out on a graph where both axes are graphed with the log of the variable taken

Or the half dozen other destroyer classes Saxton has noted.
