Republic Landing Ships

Post by Nathan F »

OK, is it just me or do the Republic Landing Ships in AOTC look alot like star destroyers. Is it possible that they are Victory Class destoyers? It is known that they are Clone War era ships and they are capable of entering atmospheres, according to the Essential Guide to Vehicles. I would like to see the Victory class in the next one if it turns out that these arent.

Seems you're not very well informed
Those are acclamators in the movie with 200 gigaton heavy canons.
VSD were constructed at the end of the clone wars so if we'll see them then in EIII.

I would like to see a VSD in EPIII, but it ain't gonna happen. The ship designer/concept artists guys (Doug Chiang & Co) would rather have their own take on early SDs than simply copy EU.

To be exact they where put into production at the end of the Clone Wars meaning they had a few already built or expermenatl versions avaible as is typical

We had two F-22's before we ever put them into *Production for example

Also, im sure everyone has already noticed it, but, for those who haven't if you will look on the side of Obi-Wan's jedi starfighter and all the Republic craft, you will see the symbol of the Old Republic. AKA The Imperial symbol. I thought that was a nice connection to make between the republic and the empire, kind of showing that, while ending up two completely different things, the Empire sprouted out of the Republic

If you look closely you'll notice that the symbol on obi wan's fighter has 8 'beams' going out from the center while the imperial symbol only has 6.
The 8 beam symbol stands for the presence of the Jedi everywhere.
The Imperial symbol was customized by palpy and stands for the presence of the empire everywhere.

K, but what does the number 8 signify in the jedi presence everywhere and the 6 in the imperial presence everywhere. Just curious :-)

It is symbolic.

Much as Hitler corrupted the swastika for Germany, Palpatine will deface this symbol to create the Imperial crest.

The other two are the pathitic Jedi while the nice Six represent the cool Empire :P

The RLS you refer vaguely to is an Acclamator class transport. It is definitely not a VSD.

In the ICS, the spkes on the Jedi Starfighter represented galactic unity, while the Empire defaced it by removing 2 spokes.

I hope we see the Vic. I mean this is Starwars and I want to see a war in the stars. The Acclamator is a cool ship but lets face it, it is a assult transport and not a ship of the line. Bring on the battle of " ". Large scale battle with Victory class stardestroyers engaged with Tradefederation warfreighters, and Technounion ships, and other assorted vessels all the while seeing small Delta 7 and Naboo's N1 zipping around dogfighting with droid fighters and Genosian fighters.

Yeah, I can imagine the Vics swooping down on an enemy base opening up with turbolasers while there is a space battle going on out of the atmosphere. :D

I would like to see them, and this time it's actually possible since the SWICS, which is considered canon, mentions the Victory-class. However, I suggest that relatively few of them are revealed, most other ships being the Procurator- and Modulator-class ships briefly mentioned in the SW2ICS.

The EGtV&V sort of contradicts itself now that we seem to have a definite Clone Wars date. It says that they were important part of the Imperial Navy even though they were three decades old. However, it says the entered service at the end of the Clone Wars. This would make them only two decades old, since Ep II is twenty years prior ANH. I would like to see a form of Star Destroyer in Ep III. Mostly ISDs, a VSD would be cool though. Maybe entering atmosphere and launching missiles to suppor the Acclamators.

In EPIII I would find it VERY unlikely to have ISDs, seeing that the name is Imperial Class and although the Rebublic is crumbling, I doubt that a class of ship would be called Imperial class.

Unless they call them Republic Star Destroyers. Muwhahahahahaha!!! Either that or they're just refered to as Star Destroyers. There is the possibility that Palpatine will declare himself Emperor in Episode III.

That is a very good possibility. I wish that they wouldnt have had so much about naboo in the first one and gotten farther into episode II in to the first one, farther into the clone wars in the second one, and have the end of the clone wars and more of the rise of the empire in the third one. I think that we all would have liked to have known more about the mysterious clone wars, sort of centering the prequels around them like they centered the original ones around the fight against the empire. The prequels are almost too love story-ish.

Well little kid, how the fuck do you think they got TWINS!!! I think we will see the endings of the Clone Wars in Ep III, where Lucas is really just leaving the Clone Wars themselves just kind of open for possibilities.

Remember that the galactic civil war is more of a backdrop for the real story, about the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker... we may see a big battle in Ep. III, we may not... what's certain is that we *will* finally see the fateful lightsaber duel where Anakin is maimed. Also, I have the feeling that Anakin himself may end up responsible for Amidala's death. (we know that one is coming, and I have the feeling something bad is in store for Naboo: Lucas has been building it up for two movies now as a peaceful and idyllic place, kinda like... ummm, Alderaan.)

We will see capship combat in Ep3. We've gotten starfighter battles to destroy something big in 1 and 4, major ground combat in 2 and 5, and a fleet engagement in 6. Coupled with the fact that Ep3 will fall around the Clone Wars, a major fleet engagement seems quite likely.

In addition to wanting to see a VSD in epIII I would love to see a Dreadnaught, just to tie in the EU that's all.

What became the Victory was originally the concept sketch for the Stardestroyer. WEG took those concept sketches and labeled them the early Victory, giving them specifications.

All that really was added by WEG was the specifications.
