Why was the original Max Rebo Band music replaced by new (and much worse) music in the Special Edition???
I just wondered.

No, I think they're the band that played in Jabba's Palace, now that I think about it.Drooling Iguana wrote:Was the Max Rebo Band the people who played in the cantina in ANH?
They aren't. The Bith band in ANH were the Modal Nodes. Max Rebo Band was the band in ROTJ. EU said that the Modal Nodes played in Jabba's palace at one point in time, I believe.omegaLancer wrote:actually it was the same band according to the EU
Yeah. I have Lapti Nek on MP3. Why did they replace it with the atrocity that is "Jedi Rocks"??Frank Hipper wrote:The original song was called "Lapti Nek", we played it in High School band. Why they 86'd it in the SE, I do not know, or condone. It really was a cool song, groovy bass line.
agreed. somethings just didn't need to be messed withDarth Pounder wrote:I remember in the intro to RotJ SE Lucas comments he thought i would be funny to have a musical number. I however think George Lucas needs slapped in the face with a trout.
How is "Jedi Rocks" and "Lapti Nek" more or less kid-friendly than each other??Admiral Drason wrote:Lucas thought that it should be more kid frendly. Like the Ewoks were'nt enough.
Because it had a furry CG character singing.Simon H.Johansen wrote: How is "Jedi Rocks" and "Lapti Nek" more or less kid-friendly than each other??
But why, oh why, did they have to change that funky music while they were at it??DPDarkPrimus wrote:Because it had a furry CG character singing.Simon H.Johansen wrote: How is "Jedi Rocks" and "Lapti Nek" more or less kid-friendly than each other??
What was a blow to the testicles for me, was that John Williams replaced his own work, and seemed satisfied!Simon H.Johansen wrote:But why, oh why, did they have to change that funky music while they were at it??DPDarkPrimus wrote:Because it had a furry CG character singing.Simon H.Johansen wrote: How is "Jedi Rocks" and "Lapti Nek" more or less kid-friendly than each other??
This will surely be remembered as an "I Can't Believe They Did That!" moment.....Frank Hipper wrote:What was a blow to the testicles for me, was that John Williams replaced his own work, and seemed satisfied!
Horrible!
But who cares if Lapti Nek is dated?? The truth remain -Starwars.com wrote:When Return of the Jedi was re-released as a Special Edition in 1997, the "Lapti Nek" number was replaced with a less dated piece of music, called "Jedi Rocks" in production.
Actually it was Figrin Dan and The Modal Nodes.Crazy Goji wrote:They aren't. The Bith band in ANH were the Modal Nodes. Max Rebo Band was the band in ROTJ.
