Ep III space battle [Medium Spoiler]

by Clone Sergeant
This is from the TF.net, which was gleaned from an online chat with Rick McCallum.
Space Battle Beginning - An epic space battle to begin the film. Now that is a great way to start. We know it is the end of the Clone Wars about this time period, so expect it to be the defintive moment of the war.
I know the script isn't done yet but Lucas tends to know what action sequences he wants early in the writing process.

Man, this is a spoiler- you have to highlight it to read it. You should've put a spoiler alert in the topic.
Thanks for the heads up though.
There is also McCallum correcting Hayden about the '10 years' quote (it's 3), and confirmation that Episode III will have bigger everything (bigger battles than Geonosis), with the lightsabre featuring prominently- more lightsabre fights than any other film.

Nothing really new, at least to me.
Though PG is rather disheartening since Episode III would seem to need to be rather dark since pretty much all the Jedi get killed, and Anakin turns.

ESB is also PG. Dind't detract anything from that film. I think it'll be fine.
The hyperspace chat revealed the following:
--Large Scale Space Battle at the beginning
--Most Lightsaber Battles ever in one movie
--Mace Windu Battles a Sith Lord (?answer: "Possibly.......")
--All battles will be of a very large scale (paraphrased: "bigger than Geonosis")
--Episode III will bridge the gap between PT & OT
--Episode III will answer MOST unanswered questions.
--Episode III will be around 2 hours long
--Episode III takes place 3 years after AOTC
--Episode III will be rated PG
--We will see A LOT of new worlds
--Hayden has really bulked up for the role. ("Arms as big as Rick's thighs")
--Anakin will be doing some evil things
--Anakin's transition to Vader will be "intense"
--Jar Jar has less screen time than AOTC
--Anakin vs. Obi-Wan will be "awesome"
--Rick personally wouldn't let a 3 year old see Episode III
--Expect a lot of great changes like Clonetroopers to Stormtroopers
--Episode III has a more adventure feel to it
--Christopher Lee is in great shape, ready to go for Episode III
--Ben Burtt's back as sound designer
--There's a new bad guy. ("Yes, expect someone serious.")
--The emperor or Anakin will make use of the darkside of the force...ex..lightning or chokes. ("Yes, and even more.")
--We will see some nice glorious deaths in Episode 3. ("Absolutely. None of these whimpy fights with droids.")

Wow. If it even has half of that, I'm automatically sold.
Jesus, all I can think of to say is "\/\/00+".

Fucking awesome! Im extremely anxious to see how they will create a cap ship battle with the current technology. Goddamn i want to see those
Acclamators ripping some Trade Fed ships to pieces
But from what i understand anyway there will be a lot of battles in EPIII and thats just what i want it to have, as long as Lucas doesnt screw it up
somehow: I think i will be pleased.

More like the Mandator class Space Dreadnaught or the Procurator class Space Battleship ripping thos TradeFed "battleships" (if you could call them that) to pieces.
But of course, that would require GL to *gasp* borrow from the EU!

He could manage; some ridiculous cop-out like in ANH (exhaust port), ROTJ (Executor's bridge window), or TPM (flying right inside the damn ship) could very well be added in just to piss us off.

Dude, what are you smoking? It's 'Star' not 'Space'.

Canon, actually.
Either way, they won't be in it because they're ships built by Kuat, for Kuat, not for the new military.

Wouldn't be much of a copout- think about it- it'll be the Separatists getting bitch-slapped.

True, but I thought Episode III was supposed to be the darkest of the lot. And have even more mayhem considering that all the Jedi have to get killed. That type of stuff adds up in upping ratings. Unless they don't show it which can make the film akward.

Of course, Kuat would be a logical target of the Seperatists in order to weaken the OR.

Cool...my only beef is another villain?
Eh...still nice line-up of what possibly to expect.

Nah, I'm gonna make another winning prediction and say that there'll be new Republic ships, large, with traces of their Imperator heritage, and in the Ep 3 ICS Dr Saxton will call them something like Praetor, Censor or Dictator (which is originally Latin, if anyone didnt know).

I won't disagree, I'm just saying that although a ship may be Kuat-owned, it still may participate.

Heh, ok we'll put it this way- if there are a variety of Republic major combatants, Dr Saxton may deign to give one of them the Procurator or Mandator title- but only if they fit the size ....

We may even get to see Victory-Class Star Destroyers in action. Also could see Dreadnauts too. One thing is sure, we will see more than just Trade Federation Pocket Battleships as the Sepratists have more then just them in their forces.

What kind of new ships have we seen in the PT EU?
I've only run into the so-called "Geonosian Dreadnaught" in Shatterpoint.

--Mace Windu Battles a Sith Lord (?answer: "Possibly.......") Dooku then will most likely kill Windu instead of my prediction for Boba paying off for that scene in the arena cradling his father's helmet, either that or Boba has a hand in Windu's death by distracting him and letting Dooku get in the killing shot, setting us up for Anakin killing Dooku and embracing the darkside as he sees that by being angry he has become more powerful than Mace or Yoda (both of whom could not defeat Dooku)
--Anakin vs. Obi-Wan will be "awesome" Supposedly both Ewan and Haden have already been training for this fight and the fight coreographer was told to give us a duel the likes of which we have not seen in SW.
--Expect a lot of great changes like Clonetroopers to Stormtroopers SUCK IT DOWN YOU EU LOVING FUNDIES.....SUCK IT!!!!!! (I LOVE being right))

Actually it may just be clonetroopers becoming stormtroopers in that they serve as the beginning of the stormtrooper corps. I'll wait until the movie to see what it really means.

People are selling PG and PG-13 short. The R rating only seems to warrant such a rating when there's sex or lots of blood. "The Ring" was PG-13, and was pretty intense.

The Ring was intense as "The Life of Algie" I must have fallen asleep after the boring beginning and missed these parts.
And Stravo, shut up! Half a fanfic I'm writing is based on a Stormtrooper
recruit!!!

I seriously doubt Lucas will use concept art he rejected more then two decades ago.
Hopefully we will see some big all new ships, because the idea that the Republic used almost nothing but Dreadnoughts and Victories is just stupid. I'd like to see a few, but I'd prefer something much bigger doing most of the ship-to-ship action and I'd bet that’s what we will get.

Fun trivia: showing a kick to the head will automatically get you an R rating.

Blah. Thought it didn't sound right.

Its still EU. Its just canon EU.
Wouldn't be much of a copout- think about it- it'll be the Separatists getting bitch-slapped.
I'd rather not. Having the Sepratist fleet going down under a hail of turbolaser fire would be more refreshing than a single fighter flying in and saving the day as per usual.

Who says the Seperatists are going to lose?
It is entirely possible that they will win the battle, Palpatine will negotiate a truce and uncover the "secret Jedi plans" to overthrow the galaxy by initiating a false war.
One of the things that is buging the hell out of me in all thsi EU stuff coming out about the clone wars: The CIS is the evil badguys who must loose. The Republic is headed by a Sith Lord as well, ad the majority of the Seperatists are not the commerce factions, but the people on the seceeding planets who have valid and just reasons to want to leave. This is suppossed to be like the American Civil War, I wish the authors would potray it as such.
