So imagine John Woo got allowed to make an EU franchise film.
what would you do with it. Starwars setting, Woo style direction & Plot.

I'd rather be forced to tear out my own guts with a fork then think of a SW perverted by John Woo's "style"...

Well, there would be a lot of scenes where the hero shootdodges in slow motion a planet-destroying superlaser explosion, and then stand up unharmed... that would be tricky to pull though.

Don't forget about the shots of doves taking off...

If anything, the Jedi duels would be badass.

The doves take off, just as Anakin and Obi-wan face off over the molten pit or whatever he falls into.
That would be a badass fight.

It's not a core film it's a franchise direction.
Use the Starwars setting and spin off something original.
*That's why I said EU Franchise

I can see it now:
"The Replacement Bounty Hunters"...
Or "Mission: Imperial"

Why do people always deride John Woo based on the substandard American shit people call 'Woo style' but may or may not have been even touched with a ten foot pole by Woo?

Seriously. It's true that Woo's forays into American cinema have been pretty poor, but his Hong Kong shit is fucking awesome.

I can see it now. It's about an Imperial assassin, who, while off duty, falls in love with a Twi'lek dancer, and decides to renounce his evil ways. Of course, the Empire doesn't really have a retirement policy, so they send bounty hunters and stormtroopers to retrieve him, culminating in a shootout inside a Star Destroyer, as our hero mows down Stormtrooper after Stormtrooper with his trusty blasters, before facing the man who trained him, years ago
That sounds about right.

Double blasters
Single held rifles.
The Jedi conceal their sabres
behind, draw it out with swirl motion.
Story focused on the Hutts, smugglers, bounty hunters, and probably some stormtroopers.
Try:
A Hutt crimelord is pissed by a smuggler for owing him money, he hires a bounty hunter to capture the smuggler. The smuggler, while being held by a squad of stormtroopers, is brought out by the hunter. The imperials send more troopers to capture both. The selfish Hutt doesn't wanna pay the hunter so he sells the hunter out to the troopers. After the hunter and smuggler get their asses away from the troopers, they're really pissed, and pretend to go plead at the Hutt. The Hutt of course orders his men to kill them both, the smuggler suddenly draws out a lightsabre and uses the Force to tear two blasters to the hunter, then the final slaughter begins.

As an addition to Yenchin's idea, have a scene (during either the grabbing the smuggler bit, or their later escape after the bounty hunter is sold out) where the hunter empties out his blaster pistols and instead of reloading, pulls out more from all over the place where he had hidden them well beforehand... Now if I can just remember the name of the movie where I got that idea from...

If John Woo decides to base his SW movie upon the NJO, I think he'll create a new sci-fi sub-genre known as "Yuuzhan Vong Kong Phooey."

Somebody should make an online comic of this...

It could also have been Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever.

No, Yosemite's got it right. It's been years since I watched that movie, but I still remember chuckling at the thought of a pistol being taken from a flower pot...

Makes sense ... who'd look for a gun in there?
What about a cameo for Chow Yun Fat?

Thought of something for this ...
... roughly about Visions Of The Future.
Grellen, a Jedi at Skywalker's Yavin Academy, has hit a roadblock in his training. A refugee of the Downturn Wars of the Corporate Sectors (whole planets degenerated into chaos when the Sector Authorities downsized after the Empire fell) who made his way off his planet and survived as a hitchchiking repair-person made his way to the Academy and started training.
The problem is basically, due to the ordeals of his childhood and other little things, he's repressed his emotions to the point where a Vulcan would be impressed. He's taken the doctrine of Jedi self-control much too far. Technically, he should be building his own lightsabre but can't - a little odd for someone who's practically built and repaired every droid on Yavin.
Skywalker, in line with his new philosophy, decides to send Grellen as part of a diplomatic mission back to the Corporate Sector.
Grellen doesn't percieve his problem, but agrees.
However, he becomes embroiled in a criminal plot to take over the Sector's Industrial concerns - supported by a group of Force Sensitives who got their hands on a Sith Holocron ...
Thoughts?

and since he can't build his own lightsaber it's blasters.
Also since Chow's older now we get him as the Come out of retirement Bounty Hunter, whose doomed to die vailiantly.
