last chance to retake galaxy

When do you think the last chance for the empire to retake the galaxy was? I Think that it was Daala's skirmish thing. She got stuff running and united like half the empire, so that has got to account for somthing.

People are gonna kill you for using the past tense.

Sorry for continuing thread disruption, but why is it wrong to use the past tense to refer to things that supposedly happened a long time ago?

In any case, I think the best chance the Empire had was when the Emperor launched the assault from Byss, including the fall of Coruscant and the wrecking of the Alliance fleet.

Well, the Rebel-Alliance managed to take the galaxy and they were in a much worse condition, than the imperial remnant is now.

I'd say Daala's assaults in Darksaber were ultimately pointless, and may have only hastened the Empire's decline. All of her attacks were geared towads destruction, not the acquisition of resources and territory. In the end, all she did was lose an Executor(probably an executor anyway could easily have been a wussier heavy ship) and focus the NR's attention on the Imperial remnants.

Right now, in the NJO, the Imperial Remnant is larger than the New Republic, which has been blown to shit by the Yuuzhan Vong. As soon as the Vong are toppled (The Unifying Force) the Remnant will be able to retake the Galaxy without too much trouble. Assuming that Pellaeon changes his mind about peace with the NR.

Yes, the last chance was probably Daala's time. But the ultimate hope laid with Thrawn's campaign. Had Leia not gotten a lucky break with the Noghri, who knows what would have happened.

Thrawn's pathetic Katana Fleet would have been the NR, of course.

Yes, which is why the Republic has multiple major operational shipyards ramping up to full output...and the IR has none.

Thrawn was certainly more than capable of seizing the Galaxy. The reborn Emperor was certainly capable of seizing the Galaxy, but I don't think that even at the height of her power Daala could have tried something like that. She simply had too few ships and soldiers.

Right now, in the NJO, the NR no longer exists. It has been superceded by the Galactic Alliance.

The remnants of the NR prior to the conversion were MUCH larger and MUCH more powerful than the Imperial Remnant, which comprises only a handful of sectors. The YV routed much of the Imperial fleet with a small group of starships. The Empire is only a dull thorn in their side, compared to the NR's forces, which were substantial enough to actually challenge the YV militarily.

In terms of the Imperial Remnant retaking the Galaxy, don't make me laugh.

The IR has no where NEAR enough forces left to retake the Galaxy.

Not yet. Not yet.

I should become a Star Wars author. Have the Imperial Remnant bring in a bunch of previously unheardof forces from the Unknown Regions and retake the Galaxy.

And kill Jania. I don't like her.

There isn't shit in the Unknown Regions except the Chiss, who would get their asses handed to them any day of the week by the NR, the Galactic Alliance, the Imperial Remnant, and the Yuuzhan Vong.

It wouldn't fit in to introduce some gigantic force from the Unknown Regions (such a group would have long ago crushed the Chiss).

Dark Empire was the last realistic chance I think. After that too much was hung on clever tactics and strategy when the Empire simply did not have the resources to exploit any gains. Kind of like the first and third German drives in 1918.

Well than maybe a force from another Galaxy. Or have the Imperial Remnant massively upscale ship production, then somehow stage a mass-defection.

Anything to make the Empire triumph.

See Marina's fanfic, but the point-of-divergence is immediately after the fall of Coruscant in that fanfic as opposed to the later point now.

Yes, because this puny sector can build more ships than the 3-4 largest operational shipyards in the galaxy, and the Alliance's people are going to defect to the Empire of all people
Anything to make the Empire triumph.
