The Empire whoops the Vong

If anyone has read "Traitor" and the New Jedi Order series you might have noticed a little blurb on page 34.
"...This Uncle, Luke Skywalker, is popularly considered to have singlehandedly created the New Republic by defeating an older, much more rational government known as the Empire."
Nom Anor goes on to prove Imperial Superiority with this...
"And I might add, it was fortunate for us that he did; the Empire was vastly more organized, powerful, and potently militaristic. Lacking the iternal divisions we have exploited so sucessfully in the New Republic. the Empire would have crushed our people utterly in their first encounter."
And that's just with knowledge of their technological aspects of warfare. They have so much trouble with held-back and improperly trained Jedi, they could never handle the combined dark side might of Darth Vader and/or Emperor Palpatine.
To me this settles any and all questions about wether or not the Galactic Empire at its peak could completely wipe out the Yhuuzan Vong.

Yes, yes we heard the quote, and I have the novel. There was a thread about Traitor somewhere.

Yup, as it's been stated over and over again; the Empire would have crushed the Vong like bugs. Had the Republic done something about them early on, they would have won easily enough.
yeah

the weird thing is (and this is something I didn't notice before Traitor) I finally got around to reading Crimson Empire II. Nom Anor was working from the inside to disarray the Imperial Government. After that it seems that even a reduced empire could be a significant threat.
THat being said you think Darth Vader could use his TK choke moves? Or would Palpatine's force lightning work?

Yeah, sure they would. Jaina tore a Vong warrior apart with Force Lightning in
Star by Star, and Dark Jedi Lomi used a Dark Side trick to make a Vong shaper (or was it a priest?) who had tortured her fall apart in cubic chunks.

I find it more likely that Vader would have to do some other, more creative moves. He would need to do things like suck the atmosphere away from their heads, creating localized vacuums that would force their blood to boil (ref. Edge of Victory), or throw small objects at them (ref. ESB).
Sith combat against the YV would not be the deciding factor of any battles between the Empire and the YV. It would just be a sideshow attraction. The real slaughter would probably be between large groups of ISD's and smaller groups of coralskippers and other YV craft defending small worlds on the Outer Rim, and in the form of stormtrooper squads attacking YV positions on said worlds (alternatively, BDZ's would be possible).

Who knows what Remnant shall bring?
Glory! Glory to the Empire!

Besides some pretty cool cover art (
http://starwars.com/eu/news/2002/09/new ... cover.html), it may bring about the final end of the Empire. The blurb posted on StarWars.com about
Remnant (
http://starwars.com/eu/news/2002/09/news20020911.html) says that the Jedi are going to take on the task of bringing the last of the Empire into the light. Granted, this is pretty vague; it could simply mean the Jedi attempt to convince factions of the Empire who oppose cooperating with the New Rebel Alliance to change their minds. Or it could mean, like I said, the final end of the Empire. We'll have to see...
Youngling no more. Woot.

Hmmmm, no Duran. In Destiny's Way I'm pretty sure Pellaeon doesn't destroy the New Alliance while he had the chance instead taking a huge fucking bite of the Vong Warfleet & Territory, expanding the Remnant. Those batards shall not convince Pellaeon. I laugh they piss him off , and he calls upon his Chiss Buddies for some ass kicking. Ah, the memories. If they do goodbye Episode III & Mr. Lucas.
Sith are more than a sideshow

I disagree that a Sith's presence would be a mere sideshow. Wether its "motivation" or personally dispatching high ranking warriors (I doubt Vader would have just taken the Warmaster's foot.).

No more likely Vader would disembowled him with a lightsaber and strangled him with his own intestines or something else suitably vicious.
