Alright...I must admit that I am deep computer gaming (Though I can quit anytime I want, dammit!) , and I was just wondering if anyone else here has heard of Star Wars Galaxies? It's an Online RPG, and has been very well done from what I can see. The only con is that it doesn't have Coruscant (Empire only, and way too much architecture according to them). Here's a URL, so check it out, it couldn't hurt :D .

based on my experience with EverQuest, I'm expecting good things from SW:G.

Yes,yes , yes!

I just wish they would do a Star Wars Rebellion 2. That game is better than any other strategy game ever put out.

Galaxies will be very, very good, even without Coruscant.

Well, even being a Gamer as much as a Star Wars fan, earlier games sucked. But they seem to be having a turn around. LoL, actually I just put my money down on the game. LoL. And I said I'd never pay a monthly fee to play a game.

If you think they sucked just look at the ST games. Armada was good but full of bugs.

What I've read about Star Wars Galaxies, it sounds pretty good. Every new issue of Star Wars Insider gives an update on the Beta Testing of most of the Star Wars games being made. I think they give good information. :D

Overall Galaxies looks great because you already have a pre-established universe for backstory.

I mean you have something to aspire to other than finding the latest Laconian Sword +34...which I see seperates it from most he medieval...and the thought of once again flying an X-Wing(hopefully) is good enough.

Depends. If the player base is good it will rock. If not, it will suck. Judging by the SW Galaxy forums, I live in fear.

Judging by the Producers I'd be itching to buy it. Whuile some of the players speak like 12 year old fanboyZ there are a large enough number of very smart and very dedicated fans who look to be pushing this idea of fully ralized player control. The producers themselves have been enourmously generous with time and informaiton that, I think, has led to a great deal of constructive redesign of the project with resulting bonuses for us. All that plus I'm looking forward to an RPG that isn't just a hack n' slash but is rather a compelete online reality with all the nuances that such realities demand.

It'll be interesting, but I'm not paying monthly for an RPG or do I have the computer requirements. David, ever heard of Rebellion Editor?

It'll be interesting, granted. But I'm not that interested in RPGs, or have the computer requirements. David, ever heard of Rebellion Editor?

Looks to me like it will be great.

Won't be my cup of tea simply because its a MMORPG.

1) I barely have the patience anymore to play a regular RPG for 600 hours, much less one that has no real "ending" or final goal.

2) Buy the game, then pay to play (after the first month). So you spend a bunch of money with nothing to show for it in the end. And if you stop paying, your character(s) go POOF! At least with a regular game you can always stop playing, and pick it up a few months or a year later and still enjoy it.

3) Slap happy annoyances like people having "weddings", weapons farming on ebay, hacking, spamming, trolling, etc. It's like the IRC (or worse, Geocities chat) of online games!

Otherwise, it sounds great! Just not something I'd be interested in playing...

As I heard there will be a single player mode in it.

Of course it will be shorter.... :(

Death to SW Galaxies!

How the fuck are they able to call themselves a Star Wars MMORPG when the Emperor isn't a player character?

I will not serve an NPC Emperor. I will also not serve in any anti-Imperial group, nor will I be a citizen in a sick, perverted Emperor-less Empire.

No SW Galaxies for me.

So what do you propose as an alternative? Have one lucky player be the Emperor? Freakin brilliant, get off your high horse.

HELL YES have one lucky player be the Emperor. What the fuck is wrong with that? It makes it more real, more believable, and it provides the more ambitious players with the ultimate career goal.
The Combine did it right. True, at first there were some power struggles, but after a while the strongest man came into power, and when the Emperor is respected enough that his nominated successor is accepted, then all is right.
Unfortunately, the Combine is fucked up now, thanks to dumbass idiots who insist that the Empire must be evil, without any reasoning or drive. They want the Empire to be like Sauron's gang of one-dimensional fuckups and retards who want only to be hated.

But more to the point, HELL YES have one lucky player be the Emperor. Are you worried about fair play? Are you worried about corruption? Show a little faith in your Emperor, citizen! He'll set things right. And if he doesn't, make sure his successor does.
The Empire isn't supposed to be about equal opportunity to have fun. If that's what you want, join the Rebellion, you pussies. The Empire doesn't have room for whiny crybabies.

My suspension of disbelief will accept an AI Emperor (or more likely a Sony/Verant guy will play him). But a new Emperor every week? That's absurd. I can just see some l33t 12-year-old CS player getting the position...

I'm gonna play SWG (gotta love that disposeable income). Does anyone want to hang out? I'm thinking about being based on Naboo, from what I've heard, the Verant guys are making it a much 'darker' place, the cultural centre of the Empire...
