Grand Admiral Thrawn...A Reality

Post by Cal Wright »

Alright, I am sure you are all wondering what the hell this is about. How many of you rabid Star Wars fans have read the Thrawn Trilogy? That's what I thought. Now that we have that established let's have a little fun. When you read the Star Wars books, do the voices ever float around in your head? Like when Han says something to Chewbacca, Leia gives one of her retorts, or Luke cooley and confidently speaks words of the Force. Do you hear the sounds of turbolaser fire and evasive manuvers? How about the sound of John Williams' score in the background? Now, let's really get to the point. When you first started reading about Talon Karrde, did you ever think about how he sounds? To me, he sort of sounds like maybe a Kurt Russell individual. Really in the pictures I've seen, Kurt could sure pass for him. This is what I'm getting at. When you started reading about Grand Admiral Thrawn, how did you think he would sound? For me he seemed like he would have a very regal voice. Something, to American speakers, foreign so to say. Like he has a deep dark voice. Also, for some strange reason (might be because of the second language I took in high school) I keep thinking he would roll his 'r's, like in the spanish language. You have that 'rr' letter. Grrand Admirral Thrrawn. Oh yeah. What actor would play him. That's a hard one for me to decide. So what's everyone think? Am I just a lune, or so damned bored I come here and post? LoL.

OOOh good call Mr. Bean. I know, we'll get the two actors together and let them fist fight to see who is really Thrawn, and who is Flim. Fuck yeah

No offense, but that really disturbed me. I was like, that's not Thrawn. They just took him out of context, he stated the blatantly obvious and didn't even sound close enough to what I had in mind. Oh well, it was damn smooth seeing him in action though.

I think he was too cold, too stereotypical "evil sneering villain".

There are only a few people who could possibly play Thrawn.

1 - Michael Douglas in his "Falling Down" mode with some HEAVY make-up.
2 - Hugo Weaving. It should really be obvious.
3 - John Cusack. I just think that he would be great in the role, he already has the right face shape etc...

Good grief. Maybe, as long as he isn't just doing it to get money to keep his castle up. His overacting is what ruined Dungeons & Dragons.

I don't know, Jeremy as much as I like him and I really do, always seems to be overacting in some way. I don't know how better to phrase it, but Hugo Weaving on the other hand.... From Prescila Queen of the Desert, to Matrix, to LOTR, my god!

In my fanfic "A Crossover Too Far" http://www.daltonator.net/fanfics/stories/toofar.txt I'm combining all the movie roles of all the actors in order to create really confused gestalt characters (ie Han Solo is also Indy, Leia is also that chick from Blues Bros etc). And I'm slowly working my way towards a scene where Agent Smith opens the door to an interrogation room to speak to Mr Anderson and steps in wearing absolutely outrageous drag.[/url]

Not William Defoe. That fucker is Joruus C'boath. Nobody could pull of the Green Goblin...except Defoe. Now Jeremy Irons, I didn't even think of that. I say we toss the Kahn actor and Jeremy Irons into a big arena and let em duke it out. Round 1 FIGHT!

He's pretty cool Mr. Poe. However, he seems to bring reality what I thought Avery Brooks, or Denziel Washington would look like as Thrawn. Ah what the hell! Toss em in! Round 2 FIGHT!

Good God! I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner! How old is Thrawn? Isn't he like oldish? If yes, then Morgan Freeman baby! I could watch that guy reading from the telephone directory and still be enthraled! Talk about screen presence!

Hehe. Actually, this guy ain't black! But I wouldn't mind seeing Wesley Snipes as Thrawn.

BTW...bet you'd never guess Ray's Thrawn's costume consists of a white shirt worn backward and a paper cut-out of the rank badge from C. Saxton's site!

Dungeons & Dragons was a steaming hunk of crap. His overacting was a good actor having fun at an abysmal movie's expense. Can you say Thora Birch? Keenan Ivory Wayans? Or that pathetic elf chick?
