How much firepower DOES an Imperator have ?

How much firepower ?
Bryan Young's Turbolaser Commentarys have two references regarding turbolaser firepower measured in tons.
One figure states that a star destroyer CAN generate 595 megatons per cannon.
Another figure from an novel exerpt suggests that warships classifying asdestroyers or cruisers carry cannons in the gigaton range.
Then there are the specs of the Acclamator "each Acclamator carries 12 200-gigaton quad-turbolaser turrets, and 24 6-megaton light guns " .
So what is it ? All the figures are acceptable considering that just one Imperator is supposed to be capable of rendering an M class planet into molten slag in around an hour's time. If we assume that all the figures are accurate then it would seem that (accounting for improved turbolaser designs and the sheer increases in size, mass, and power generation between the Acclamator and the Imperator ) the average star destroyer should have an overall high end firepower rating in the multi terraton range and a low end rating in the multi gigaton range, Right ?

Ever heard of "lower limits" and "upper limits"

I once calculated that, based on ICS figures, a full broadside is well over 100 TT. (note, this uses WEG stats for numbers of guns, and does not take into account the two heavy trench TLs, which are stronger than HTLs.

I believe I stated that " the average star destroyer should have an overall high end firepower rating in the multi terraton range and a low end rating in the multi gigaton range "

Exactly what are you asking?
A full Alpha Strike, a broadside, what it can do in one second?
You gave out what people consider the low and high end of the combined firepower but gave no indication of time frame or of how many of the gun are being used...or even what model of ISD.

Yes, yes I understand. However it is all realitive, Anyone who assumed that I was measuring the Imperators firepower over any period of time other than one second would be decidedly a lower lifeform. I was implying
that the model in question is an Imperator I by refering to it as an average
star destroyer seeing as how the ISD I is most likely the most numerous.
And finally what I ment by " Overall Firepower " is all weapons firing at once

For an ISD 2 it should be in the range of 1x10^24 watts for all its guns firing.

Broadside ISD-I (only the six big hitters to the left and right of the superstructure):
30,000 Gigatons (5,000 for the individual barrel, based on the 200 Gigaton per barrel of the Acclamator, multiplied by ten for the difference in size, multiplied again by 2,5 since there are two barrels instead of four and assuming no further developments in Turbolaser-technology (since SW-tech seems to be stagnant)).
For the ISD-II (based on a quote i once read, that the ISD-II has twice the firepower of the ISD-I):
60,000 Gigatons per broadside and 1,875 for the individual barrel.

Tain must admit that the awesome destructive power of the aforementioned 'turbolaser' makes it a formidable weapon in the wrinkly old emperor's arsenal, second only to the wrinkly old emperor's own lightning bolts which are themselves rumoured to have an energy in the terralog range (where a single log is of course equal to the destructive power of NO MORE than one log off the forest moon of endor, as seen in a film called Star Wars: Return of the Jedi). This along with the newly acquired deadly 'patriot missile' will go a long way toward protecting vulnerable SSD's from the agreed upon A-wing threat, the wrinkly old emperor was indeed truly wise to sanction the use of such technology, both Tain and Admiral Pressman can only stand back and salute such genius.
Tain out

Wait untill he cracks. Shitting himself in delight over acting like a fuckass and ignoring us can only last so long. He'll switch to a new strategy for trolling soon.
Untill then, I've already claimed him as my bitch.

Not funny enough. He thought he had a great idea for SW vs ST, and when it got shot down he just started spamming out of childish petulance. I can get better comedy by stepping on ants and watching their death throes.

Back on topic. WTF another uppity n00b. Maybe we should put something in the board rules about not getting pissy in your 1st few posts when you ask vague or dumb questions. When and IF you become an established member then you have a right to get pissy.

Now
that was funny. Especially the whole "Wong was my friend and I helped him out but then he betrayed me..." spiel.
Speaking of which, SB.com member 'BoB' stuck to a similar spiel when SD.net came up in a thread on GundamWatch. He mentioned he was from SB, but was also very keen on insisting his identity was 'a secret'.
