Very little new technology is presented, primarily because it is unnecessary. Most of the "new technology" is really just a new application for an existing one (like their intertial dampeners). The only real advances are going on in the fields of genetic science, bio-technology, and gravitational scanners (which are being fine-tuned).
In addition, some ship's weapons and other systems are being miniaturized, like Gravity Well Generators.
