If you could ask 5 questions of someone who worked for Lucasfilm about the canon policy of Star Wars, what would they be?
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

2. How does Lucas and Lucasfilm rate the 1st Han and the Lando trilogies, as well as Splinter of the Mind's Eye, in relation to the other EU novels?Lord Poe wrote:The canon policy is clearly defined, Marc. It has been for years, and every single new quote about it confirms our understanding of it that we've HELD for years.
Ok, that aid, here's a few questions:
1) Can we please ignore the Jedi Academy trilogy, Darksaber, The Crystal Star, The New Rebellion, and most of the New Jedi Order?
I thought for the most part it already was...Illuminatus Primus wrote:Can we declare the Glove of Darth Vader series apocryphal?
I believe that and some of the other old novels have been struck from continuty.Illuminatus Primus wrote:Can we declare the Glove of Darth Vader series apocryphal?
Oh, so the fact that they're evil in their stupidity isn't good enough for you?Illuminatus Primus wrote:Everyone who says that, never can find a shred of proof. Its just like that "GL is going to make all the Stormies CGI and Jango clones" which is never shown anywhere either.
If only. But, to this day, none of the EU material read that didn't belong to Star Wars Tales or had the "Infinities" label has been made apocryphal. Although some material had been taken in and retconned by LFL after the events of AOTC (much of Boba Fett's history, for one).Stormbringer wrote:I believe that and some of the other old novels have been struck from continuty.

Some of the Tales have been given official status. At least those that made it into the books are official I believe though they are contradictory.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:If only. Apparently there's some group of novels that say that Luke's severed hand was recovered and used for some weird experiment, and that after Vader's death, they managed to research the magic glove he used to deflect Han Solo's blaster shots. The story goes to say something about putting Luke's hand in Vader's glove, you'll have a new superweapon of devastating proportions.greenmm wrote:

I thought I knew all the old SW novels, but I've never heard of that one.
It was a kids story that I brought up some time ago as disagreeing with Truce at Bakura about how Han and Leia got married.Slartibartfast wrote:Apparently there's some group of novels that say that Luke's severed hand was recovered and used for some weird experiment, and that after Vader's death, they managed to research the magic glove he used to deflect Han Solo's blaster shots. Except that Vader didn't deflect the bolts. He absorbed them. Wayne has evidence of this on his site.Slartibartfast wrote:Apparently there's some group of novels that say that Luke's severed hand was recovered and used for some weird experiment, and that after Vader's death, they managed to research the magic glove he used to deflect Han Solo's blaster shots. I dunno, I've got so many other more interesting questions to ask them.Marc Xavier wrote:If you could ask 5 questions of someone who worked for Lucasfilm about the canon policy of Star Wars, what would they be?
Yes. I'm thinking a good term for tales would be "provisional apocropya". They don't count for references, but they are good for ideas because a number are later confirmed in other sources.Stormbringer wrote:Some of the Tales have been given official status. I should note that if the BTM CD location is accurate, then somewhere in that kid series is a quote that suggest that the MF can travel the galaxy in hours.SirNitram wrote:Having read it, I'll correct: The glove was soughtt out by a power-crazed mutant posing as the Emperor's son, trying to use it to claim the Force Choke of Vader and the right to the throne. Of course, the power isn't part of the glove(duh), but some tech tricks allow him to fake it..
