5 Questions

If you could ask 5 questions of someone who worked for Lucasfilm about the canon policy of Star Wars, what would they be?

by Lord Pounder
None they explain canon policy if you have the good sence to read what they say.

Don't you think it's a little bit haughty to claim you couldn't learn anything insightful from having a free 5 question Q and A with a Lucasfilm source, regardless of the validity of your stance based on the information you have now?

Even in a position of complete correctness, a wiser person would use such an opportunity to further solidify their argument, it would be foolish to ignore it.

The canon policy is clearly defined, Marc. It has been for years, and every single new quote about it confirms our understanding of it that we've HELD for years.

Ok, that aid, here's a few questions:

1) Can we please ignore the Jedi Academy trilogy, Darksaber, The Crystal Star, The New Rebellion, and most of the New Jedi Order?

2. How does Lucas and Lucasfilm rate the 1st Han and the Lando trilogies, as well as Splinter of the Mind's Eye, in relation to the other EU novels?

Can we declare the Glove of Darth Vader series apocryphal?

I believe that and some of the other old novels have been struck from continuty.

Everyone who says that, never can find a shred of proof. Its just like that "GL is going to make all the Stormies CGI and Jango clones" which is never shown anywhere either.

Oh, so the fact that they're evil in their stupidity isn't good enough for you? :P

I guess just for laughs I'd ask "Yes or no: is the Ep2ICS canon?"

Cause that would give some of our buddies a little less wiggle room. I think its perfectly clear already, but it would not hurt to have it said in a more clearcut manner.

The canon policey is pretty damn explicet. You really can't do much more to change it without some highly deceptive questions.

I'd rather ask things like "Which ones are GLs favorites?", "How was Saxton selected" (also insert Denning and Zahn for that), "Who is incharge of the technical continuity (EG Executors length)?"

If only. But, to this day, none of the EU material read that didn't belong to Star Wars Tales or had the "Infinities" label has been made apocryphal. Although some material had been taken in and retconned by LFL after the events of AOTC (much of Boba Fett's history, for one).

Anyways, I'd be pretty straight forward with my questions:

Are the Incredible Cross-Sections series' canon?
Are any other EU novels/sourcebooks canon?
If not, why?

That's about it.

:?:

Glove of Darth Vader?

I thought I knew all the old SW novels, but I've never heard of that one.

*quick Yahoo! search*

Hmmm... a SW novel from 1987 that I've never heard of... and based on the date, apparantly predates Heir to the Empire...

"Fascinating."

Apparantly, though, my local library only has the 1992 comic adaptation...

Some of the Tales have been given official status. At least those that made it into the books are official I believe though they are contradictory.

Yes, some of the older one have effectively been struck down simply by ignoring them and essentially re-writing the EU over them.

Apparently there's some group of novels that say that Luke's severed hand was recovered and used for some weird experiment, and that after Vader's death, they managed to research the magic glove he used to deflect Han Solo's blaster shots. The story goes to say something about putting Luke's hand in Vader's glove, you'll have a new superweapon of devastating proportions.

It was a kids story that I brought up some time ago as disagreeing with Truce at Bakura about how Han and Leia got married.

Having read it, I'll correct: The glove was soughtt out by a power-crazed mutant posing as the Emperor's son, trying to use it to claim the Force Choke of Vader and the right to the throne. Of course, the power isn't part of the glove(duh), but some tech tricks allow him to fake it..

Except that Vader didn't deflect the bolts. He absorbed them. Wayne has evidence of this on his site.

And lets not forget that Luke's "hand" was inm the Emperor's private Storehouse with the lightsaber (which C'Baoth used to make a clone of Luke in TLC.)

Basically we are seeing some exaggeration/outright lying, and this appears to be consistent with what Nitram mentioned.

I dunno, I've got so many other more interesting questions to ask them.

Yes. I'm thinking a good term for tales would be "provisional apocropya". They don't count for references, but they are good for ideas because a number are later confirmed in other sources.

I think of them like Urban legends of SW myself.

"Can you please have George Lucas appear on-screen before the beginning of Episode III and make a statement about how ICS is canon, ending with "So in short, Mr., and I use that term loosely, Robert Scott Anderson, you are wrong. Dead wrong. Curl up in a corner and die."?"

I should note that if the BTM CD location is accurate, then somewhere in that kid series is a quote that suggest that the MF can travel the galaxy in hours.

As for me, I would much rather ask this.
"Can you have a BDZ in Eps 3? Or something like a BDZ is the ........................."

Personally I wouldnt mind seeing a planetary bombardment in Episode III. But from what I understand, this will be a post clone wars thing, so if we're ever gonna see a BDZ, it's probably going to be on that Cartoon Network series thing...
