Episode 3 Speculation

(Started a new thread- no thread necromancy and all!)
Anyone think Obi-Wan has a mechanical limb or two as well? I mean, look at the condition of Anakin in ROTJ. Can you imagine Obi-Wan being in that battle and not even be slightly scarred? Not even a Han Solo cut on the chin?
From what Obi-skin we saw in ANH, (eww...) Obi-Wan could have a huge gash across the torso. He COULD have lost an arm or a leg in that duel. OR...to bring up an OLD theory...can the Obi-Wan we see in ANH be a clone? (Anyone remember the OB-1 stuff?)
Now the EU character that is to be in Ep3 has been said to have been seen in the novels, comics, and games. The only character I can think of that has been in all three is really Thrawn. Thoughts?

When was it said they were in all 3? I missed that one; prior to that I figured it was Quinlan Vos. Another possible one was Durge and the baldheaded freaky force chick being digitally inserted into the battle at the beginning (onboard a coreship bridge) and getting blown to hell.
Upside of ti being Thrawn is it then becomes canon that the Empire has a genius that can kick everyone's ass (but throws some of the EU for a loop again)

Ah, never midn then, I'm a cheap bastard, that's how I missed it.
Incidently, were you ever able to grab screen shots of the guys reading the ICSs as a refernce? You mentioned there was a shot of it (and I think they are the book we see in the latest SWI but I can't tell)

If Obi-Wan truly fought with Anakin and then fled, he must have been wounded only superficially if at all; otherwise, he'd be somewhat unable to flee. Aside from that, what condition would he be in to beat Anakin if he were injured? Likewise, once Anakin was badly injured, how would he seriously harm Obi-Wan?

If Thrawn has been in all three, then so has Garm Bel Iblis, which might be more likely and less of a bad idea...

The same could be said for *shudder* Dash Rendar.

Pablo Helman(the guy who writes the set diaries) said in a chat the other day that the EU character isn't Thrawn.

Probably Bel Iblis then. He was in Rebellion, The Thrawn Trilogy comics, and a number of novels. It would fit with being the start of the rebellion.

So many better characters to use then Bel Iblis... and I bet they would use the crappy new character design for him too...

What new design? All i've ever seen is the old, long gray hair in a ponytail with the Fumanchu mustach hippie look.

Bel Iblis was one of the founders of the Rebellion. Since Mon Mothma has already been confirmed and cast (and filmed, IIRC), then it makes sense to include Iblis.

What about Talon Karrde and his group? Any of them appear in any games?

Why couldn't Obi-wan Kenobi be perfectly fine?
After all, he did defeat Anakin Skywalker. Anakin injuries were sustained when he fell in the lava pit. For all we know, we have a de ja vu where Anakin and Obiwan are fighting above some lava pit and Anakin chose to jump off when Padme comns in and say,"Anakin, I don't love you anymore. I want to be with Palpatine."

Actually, I recall reading an early draft for SW where Obi-Wan had several mechanical limbs. However, that idea was later scrapped and used for Darth Vader.

I DO have those notes at home. I'll post them later today.

From what I'm reading about this fight (on the Ep 3 diary) this is a long, dragged out fight that takes place in several sets. There's NO WAY Obi-Wan comes out unscathed. He MUST have some injuries. Anakin isn't that bad, and Obi-Wan isn't that GOOD.

No, not all of them. What about those two huge gashes on Anakin's head and cheek? They can't have a violent fight like this without Obi-Wan getting so much as a hangnail.
For all we know, we have a de ja vu where Anakin and Obiwan are fighting above some lava pit and Anakin chose to jump off when Padme comns in and say,"Anakin, I don't love you anymore. I want to be with Palpatine."
Then he must have bashed his head against his lightsaber several times on the way down...

Yet Obi Wan as a padawan didn't receive a scratch from Darth Maul and you underestimate Anakin's desire to seriously kill his friend. Maybe the fight is a tragic one, with each Jedi trying to really not kill the other. Anakin is fending off Obi Wan and trying to drive him away and Obi Wan is trying to keep Anakin busy while trying to get through to him to return to the light (granted that's unlikely considering what I've been hearing about the duel, that its supposed to be the most kinetic of all the duels in the entire series)
Also you're overlooking GL's statement that the head wound was received in another incident and NOT the duel since he says he's looking for the EU to explain the head wound.

No, we would have seen it after Obi-Wan vanishes in ANH.

I don't think it's very likely that Obi-Wan has any mechanical replacements. Scars hidden under the robes maybe, but no mechanical replacement parts. When he disappeared in ANH, any mechanical parts should've been left behind (like his clothes and the lightsaber).

Perhaps in a blind rage Anakin runs after Obi-Wan only to get his ass kicked badly (like Anakin getting fryed by Dooku in AOTC). Then with Obi-Wan pressing his advantage Anakin is unable to put up any real offensive until he's finally vanquished.
Or perhaps it's just a stalemate until, by some cruel twist of fate, Anakin falls into the lava.

I always pondered if perhaps he got that wound when he fell down the abandoned shaft on Mimban in Splinter of the Mind's Eye. I haven't read it, though, so I don't know if they divulge any details of his injuries--if any--from the fall.

Also - there's the obvious fact that we see both of his hands ungloved and they are obviously not mechanical... so he doesn't have any mechanical arms... (not in the final incarnation of the script, that's for certain!)
