Annoying Episode III spoilers

From chat with Ep 3 concept designer Ryan Church
We will see prototype TIE Fighters.
We will see both the "used universe" design style common in the Classic Trilogy as well as the sleek, "pretty" environments seen so far in the prequels.
We will see evidence of Rebel Alliance ships.
We will see a new location on Naboo.
The new bad guy has a lot of screen time, a memorable role, and he is central to the plot.
Ryan designed the prototype for the X-Wing.
Some of the old Ralph McQuarrie images were incorporated into Ep3. At the start of designing, George pointed out certain designs he definitely wanted to see in the film.
There are not too many scenes that take place in or around a Death Star.
The new Federation Cruiser is a large and aggressive warship. It will look "slightly familiar".
Say what? There won't be 'too many' scenes around a Death Star? NO FUCKING DEATH STARS PLEASE.

Can anyone hear the collective snorts of derision from Trekkies if its revealed that the Death star began construction back in Ep. III??

There shouldn't be any X-Wings by EpIII. Incom did not begin producing them until after the Empire was formed.
Using the T.I.E. Fighter is acurate. There isn't a direct date for when it was created, but it was pre-Empire IIRC.
And Vympel, what's wrong with the using the Death Star?

Still doesn't change the figures for the DS2. Or the fact that it still utterly dwarfs federation construction even if it tooks a decade or two.

Doesn't really matter- the Death Star II was still constructed in 6 months. And it is of course, much bigger than the original
The problem I have with it is I don't want to see the fucking thing. AOTC was enough. No Death Stars. Anywhere.

I agree. The plan wasn't necessary and having a death star isn't likely to work.

The Death Star had to be constructed in secret during the Republic era. Constucting something as massive as the Death Star would surely draw attention from Republic officials. After Palpatine takes over, he has unlimited use of the galaxy's resources, however.
It doesn't matter really. The Empire was able to build 2/3rds on the larger DS2 in a considerably shorter amout of time.
This does sourly fuck up EU timelines though, which place the beggining of the DS construction at 3 or so years before the battle of Yavin.

But it leaves room for someone to say that DSI and II were constructed nearly simultaneously. Do you really think that the likes of Darkstar who once theororized that SW humans were born with metal implants would not float that theory?

What if George really, truely says 'fuck the EU, i'm doing what i feel like?' Remember that piece of concept art with the two Death Stars orbiting Coruscant? Despite all previous indications, he could very well incorporate that into the film, and have two DSs under construction in Ep3. I don't like it, you don't like it, and it screws the EU and might even make canon ambiguous, but it could happen. Just have to wait and see.
On the other hand, it could just be a prototype, even if it isn't the prototype we know from EU. Might not even have an operational superlaser.
Either way, if we aren't going to see many scenes in and around it, it has to be a matter of early construction, not battle or use.
Or, they could just be teasing us with that, and 'not many' means none. We can only hope.

Point there, it's sure to raise some retard arguments. Of course, it could all be bullshit, but who knows ...

Hmmm... Maybe this "new Federation Cruiser" which is "slightly familiar" is a starship-scale version of a Death Star... ROTFL!

The Death Star could be worked in. Depends on how time goes in the movie. If they have it end some time before the battle of Yavin, then maybe they could have something like Vader arriving on a shuttle to a construction yard where an oddly familiar, spherical space station is in the midst of construction....or something like that.

Couldn't this just be mis-information?

More than likely it is. It's just more fun to speculate than to outright dismiss. The only way we'll ever find out is when the movie is released.

Why the fuck are we concerned about Trekkies?
What are they going to do, pull 200 gigaton phasers out of their hats and start winning "vs" debates? Even if the DS
did take 20 years to build, it would still represent a volume equivalent to roughly 300 million Galaxy-class Federation starships. Oooh, it would only mean that
before dissolving the Senate and taking control of the entire galaxy, Palpatine managed to have a Death Star built which required the equivalent of 15 million GCSs in material per year.

Do you realize that given Darkstar's policy of ignoring everything but the films and the selected portions of the canon literature which don't hurt his ass, he can
already claim that both DS1 and DS2 had been in construction since AOTC? And that before AOTC, he could have claimed they'd been in construction since TPM, when Palpatine first came to power? You can't measure something by how
he will react to it.

Well haven't some form of early planet destroyer wouldn't be so bad, planets being blown away would be inline with the harsh civil war we all wanted and the capability should exist.
However having the Death Star that was shown in ANH is basically George fucking over his own work (no doubt the much rumor new version can "fix" that by changing dialogue) since the fact that the vessel only became fully operation during the course of the movie clearly indicates that it was brand new.

Actually, now that I think about it, the EU described some prototype early Death Stars.

One. It wouldn't really work for this plot.
Quite frankly, its stupid and unnecessary, sure it can be shoe-horned it like anything else, but GL needs to stop with the fucking Death Stars.

Actually, I would be quite pleased if they have a small Death Star, perhaps used for cracking planetary shields. That would make sense.

I'm going to be annoyed if they minimize the space battle again.

An 20-30 km spherical/ovoid siege weapon/shield-cracker SL system would make sense and not be such a ripoff. I don't want another superhuge battle station exactly like the DS I and II.

The AOTC station plan pretty clearly had some spires jutting off it in places, and ones far more substantial then the Emperors throne room. So hopefully what if anything we see with be distinctive and have them.

Actually, if the EU is to be believed, the Death Star first became operational a short time before the events of ANH. After the station's construction on the penal colony world of Despayre the planet became the superlaser's first target. Shortly thereafter (months, weeks, days--unspecified) the Station took off for Alderaan.
