This thread will obviously contain spoilers


In terms of quality, its about on par with Rebirth. Short book, just a bit over 300 pages. Most of it is discussion and exposition setting up for the conclusion to come in the Unifying Force. Couple of well known characters die, and a few interesting tech and society notes (EG TIE Defenders appear to be the standard fighter of the IR, I'll see about typing them up after I read Monsterous Regiment HDS).

Overall setup conclusion seems to be that Zenoma Sekot is the Vong homeworld, or that it is the homeworld of the species that gave them all their tech. The implication in this book is the former, but not so when you consider all the evidence; the statements in Hero's Trial that there is no evidence that a society as large as the Vongs came from the GFFA, that they have only been traveling for ~1000 years between the void, what the Writers guide that comes with the VP ebook says... I currently suspect that the group that gave them the tech was kicked out by the centerpoint or Maw aliens (or one of them might have been the group that got kicked out, never know) based of the fact that the legend says the galaxy with a living planet will defeat them and they should not approach it.


Overall, a kinda forgettable book, with the exception of the revelation on page 300. I'm not gonna share it here; it really has nothing to do with the plot, but if that gets spoiled it robs that passage of all its impact. That bit really hit home for me.

Conclusion: Ok, but check it out from your local library.

There was another race living there (don't recall much, the book was forgettable), that specialized in creating bio-weapons (such as biological starships).

i thought it was called Rouge planet?

That's Rogue Planet. The Ferroans living there weren't native, but were colonists from someplace, and they didn't make bio-weapons, just the bio-ships. IIRC, a lot of the ships were unarmed and had to fight off Tarkin's taskforce by ramming whatever came into the atmosphere.

That would be a nice wrap up. The will of the Force put them both in the same galaxy.

Overall I enjoyed it a great deal; in any event, I am GREATLY looking forward to the grand finale next month.

gah, Final Prophecy is out? I haven't completely read Force Heretic III.

I own every NJO book, but I'm thinking of skipping this one. It sounds like another one of those pointless filler books (Dark Journey, Rebirth) where nothing fucking happens.

I speculate that Onimi is controlling the entire Vong race through Shimrra (I suspect he's a Force user as well as a usurper and has his own agendas) and that he somehow oversaw the implementation of this "immunity to the Force" bullshit.

You could be very right; the scene involving Shimrra and his jester at the end of 'Destiny's Way' do support this.

It sucks as a book, but at least what they say makes sense.

When will they remove the Vong once and for all and bring back the Imperials ?

He was a saving grace of the earlier books until this whole "Yu'Shaa" bit came up. Now he just needs to be found and killed

be killed by Shimmira, causing a massive Shamed Ones rebellion
be killed by Shimmira in an act that saves a Jedi (Mara would be ironic)
survives and takes the Vong to Zenoma Sekot

See the the 'GFFA' shattering into several nation states, starting the next phase of Star wars: Vicious territorial fighting with the Jedi and Rebel heroes caught in the middle
(i.e Rebel-loyalist such as Mon Calamari, various worlds that will change aligences, probably the Corellia Sector, the Corperate Sector, the Hapes Cluster probably allied to the Rebel Loyalist, the Chiss, what's left of the Hutts)

See Lumiya showing up after the NJO, kidnapping Ben Skywalker, and probably killing Mara (and maybe Leia and Jaina) and baiting Luke to go after her so she can finish him off and take over with the Jedi in disarray with the rest of the galaxy
(it would be the perfect time for Lumiya to do it)

Some of thesebeliefs of yours will not survive I think after actually reading the book.

You mean like the New Republic was, especially around the time of the HoT Duology, also, how do you think the Chiss will be involved in the territorial fighting when they have never done so before at the peak of their strength.

God I hope not, if so I will burn every EU book I own. Fortunately I doubt Lumiya ever being mentioned in the EU novels proper and hopefully ever again. It would ruin the EU.

No, I cant Remember her name off the top of my head (Ismaren?), but she was killed.

Also just to add the DF's description...Luke's first red-headed all around can do it all girlfriend(Basically think Mara Jade ver 1)...who betrays him.

Lumiya posing as a Rebel Pilot plus the way she betrayed Luke was a great idea now that u mention it, but the Nagai/Tofs thing was absurd to me.

It is rumored (so Ive heard) that Lumiya was the mother of Carnor Jax. Hnece his tremendous ability in the force.
