Well it is an interesting discussion. Particularly since there are those here who refuse to admit Dark Empire's place in the EU, and enjoy these kind of revisionist games.
Additionally, thanks the Thief and others, there's a wealth of references that allow one to read behind the lines so to speak as to the events that transpired during Dark Empire, Dark Empire II, Empire's End, and The Dark Empire Sourcebook.
It also establishes a clear continuity in the history of the Empire that I feel is often overlooked. I posted the link as much as for the true content within as anything else.
