Watching Cartoon Network, I saw a commercial of some SW microseries. It rocked! There were star destroyers! Clone troopers! Yoda! I think there was Boba Fett too!

Could somebody provide me info? It's gonna show on November 10 here, I'm very eager with this new show, I can't wait!

If you're a hyperspace member, you can download them from http://www.starwars.com!

I just read an article in (I believe Entertainment Weekly) that Lucas approved of them, and likes them a lot. No real word on their "canon" or "official" status yet.

It seems promising. The best part of the commercial was definitely the Imperial March blazing away.

These are being done by the same guy who did Samurai Jack and Dexters Lab, so this speaks very highly to their quality. Samurai Jack in particular is an amazing show with some great swordfights so I think it is safe to say that we'll see some kickass lightsaber combat. Keep in mind that this is a mini-series so this isn't the kind of thing that we'll see an extended run of. IIRC, it is 8 episodes total.

If you go to Toonami you can download a cool Clone Wars screensaver.

The only thing I don't like about this is that each episode is only going to be 2-3 minuets. I want more, DAMNIT!

So it's just gonna be like the Animatrix shorts? FUCK IT!!! I want more!

Though the commercials were very short, I loved the imperial march music as the Clones blasted enemies to pieces. I also loved that part where the Star Destroyers emerged from hyperspace. I loved it! I wanna see more!

2 minutes sounds awfully little for a short... I mean, you can't even put a decent "buy my used cars" commercial in under 1 minute, with everyone talking like they're on fast-forward, much less make a space/ground battle or anything worthwhile of a sci-fi story...

Well.... they did say it would be 2-3 minutes... so would 2 minutes and 30 seconds still be too short?

So at eight two-three minute episodes means that the damn thing's only going to be just over thirty minutes long total?

What a rip off...

Well, I do concur.... but at least it would be entertaining.... a bit. Well, yeah, it sucks.

@ Khyron: Are you definately sure that it's just 2-3 minutes?

I just found the June/July issue of Star Wars Insider. Here's what it said.
Star Wars Insider 68

Airing this fall on Cartoon Network in a series of 20 three-minuet "chapters," Star Wars: Clone Wars bridges the gap between Attack of the Clones and the as-yet-untitled Episode III, featuring a number of the saga's familiar faces in the process.
So there you have it, 20 three minuet "chapters". After they run it you know it's gonna come out on DVD. A whole extra hour of Star Wars, that's not bad. :)

Better would have been about a dozen fifteen minute episodes.

I'm not too crazy about the three-minuet thing ether; it'd be too easy to miss a segment. I'm hoping they change their minds, and make full episods, or they were just yanking our chains about the three-minuet thing. Lucas dose like fucking with us sometimes.

60-minutes long eh ... that's not bad. Besides, you can be assured it'll come out on DVD in some form. Perhaps with the Episode III DVD.

Man... I could miss the entire thing just cuz I wanna get some chips...

But an hour isn't bad. It's better than nothing, if I bought and enjoyed the Animatrix, then I'd love this.

So In Terms of Canon this will be

Movies> Novelizations? > Animated Shorts > EU Novels?

It may or may not be revelant to future debates

Well, since I believe the Animated Shorts are from Lucas Films or with direct supervision from Lucas himself and not by some independent authors, so yeah, I think what you said is right.

It's not that the total time of the story is too short (an hour is plenty for a cartoon), it's that the amount of time per viewing is ridiculously low. It is, for all intents and purposes, just another "ad". It's as long as an ad, and has the same lasting impression as an ad (that is, near to none unless you rush to buy some brand of laundry detergent). The purpose is also the same - advertisement for the next movie (which would have been anyway, even as a full-length cartoon, but at least not so blatantly so).

Mh.

Maybe, if things appear in the Cartoons, they could also appear in Ep. III. Wait, you said that Star Destroyers appeared? Makes me hopefull....
I only hope, that it will be the correct modell (Think if they use the newer Avenger-type instead of the old Devastator-type destroyer, that would be a really BIG error.)

The ships seen exiting Hyperspace in the ads were Acclamator-class transports, not ISDs.

So when are they releasing DVDs of Droids and Ewoks?

I think LucasFilm has said that both cartoon series might be released on DVD sometime after Episode III is finished.

I've never seen Droids, but I watched Ewoks quite a bit (missed the episode where the ISD showed up, though). Some were quite good, actually.

I don't know:
http://www.starwars.com/eu/feature/20030220/ wrote:Case in point, for all the cinematic drama of "Samurai Jack," the show is also quite funny. The three-minute Clone Wars shorts will still pack fun into their brief action-filled running times. "There's definite visual jokes. For example, we have one where the Republic ARC Troopers are blowing up a cannon, and instead of putting one piece of demolition on it, it's absolutely lined with bombs. So, it's kind of absurd and funny, since it wouldn't really happen like that, but it's still cool. There are little, subtle things like that."
There might be some unrealistic things that may put it lower on the canon scale.

Just a little update. I just saw a commercial for Clone Wars, and it said they were going to be five minuet chapters.

There's also the fact that Asajj Ventress is drawn in a way that gives her a way-too-striking resemblance to a Xril.
