Once and for all: Is everything predetermined?

Did the Force predetermine the future? Prophecy, glimpses of the future.. I would say yes, the future was already predetermined by the Force.

When people got glimpses of the future, what they would always see WAS the future but they just interperted it from because all they saw was a fragment.

But since they could see the future at all, must mean the Force was already projecting its will.

So how then does the Force deal with outside threats? Are there multiple "life energies" in the Universe like the Force? Are they conscious? Some of the EU says no, but I suspect in a way it is. It's guiding the Galaxy to a particular end. It's like God, it lets its inhabitants play around but puts in key characters to guide the galaxy towards where it wants it to go.

Yes, because prophecies can be easily molded to fit many different occasions. :P

I think George Lucas tries to imply in the series that the Jedi had a choice. They could have gone down a different path, and averted the whole galactic War/Empire bit. Anakin was the key, and they rejected him time and time again. Anakin, for his part, did not have to go to the Dark Side. And later on, Luke did not have to forego the Dark Side.

Anakin/Vader brought balance to the force, by basiucally seeing to the elimination of all the Jedi and Sith, so the galaxy could start over again.
