I used to have fights with those.... It was great fun until the plastic extending sword broke into pieces.

I got a four light sabers. They're the ones made by Hasbro. I got Luke's, Anakin's (this one kicks ass) Dooku's, and Maul's. Also, I'm gonna be picking this baby up soon.

Hah, my friend and i were dueling with the really cheap ones and when I swung at it, it snapped in half. After about five seconds looking at it, I beat him into submission with mine. Good times.

Oh, and I won an auction on Hasbro.com for a blue lightsabre.

My mates all got them, but I didnt, I was saving at the time, we all went bowling, and we presented our mate, who'd just turned 19 with his, and we then proceeded to have a 3 way lightsaber duel across the bowling alley (it was empty because it was during school time but not during university time), there was us and a group of OAP's, who asked if they could join in.

I wish i had those new ones they put out for the prequels--they may be plastic but they're acurately detailed. Mine wasnt even coloured--the blade was white! looked like that shot from ANH where the animators forgot to colour OB1's saber in. The handle also did not resemble any lightsaber seen in the films (in fact, i believe the details were painted on!). I made up for it by buying a hundred dollar two-piece Vader mask replica--much cooler. Ah, early 90's Star Wars memorabelia...

I've been meaning to get the new replica versions of Vader's and Luke's ANH/ESB saber. Does anyone have any idea of the cost? i seem to remember something like $250-500 dollars. Doesnt the Official Star Wars site offer them or something?

Here ya go http://masterreplicas.com

Does anyone remember the old school light sabers from the 80s? They didn't light up, and weren’t telescopic. They were hollow, and at the top there was a piece of plastic shaped like this + so when you swung it around it made swinging light saber noise. Me and my friends used to beat the shit out of each other with them.

Oooh it would be awesome to get one of them. My first paycheck or two will be dedicated to getting one.~Jason

I had one of those. It was Luke's green ROTJ sabre. Don't have it anymore, though.

I had two, a green one and Maul's double-bladed one. They're probably broken now, though.

I've heard that the original props were made out of pieces from old cameras. Anyone know anything about this? Where would I find one of these cameras and, once I get one, how would I go about making a lightsabre out of it?

They are made from the handles of flashes from old cameras with extra doodads. Graflex I think.

But you'd be hard pressed to find the parts. And assembly is hard enough.

That's still quite a bit less than they charge for the replicas, and you get the added satisfaction of knowing that you're building your lightsabre yourself using the same methods used to build the ones for the original film.

I remember these light sabers that were basically flashlights with this inflatable blade on the end. You could turn them on so they'd glow and you could safely wail away on each other. :D
