God, HOW much of the OT was replaced by the SE? Five minuites total? And in length, that was almost totaly the enhanced Jabba song bit before he fed Ola to his rancor...

We had a petition drive for that site here some time ago.

Personally, I would've liked them to remaster it and leave *all* of it alone, except for obvious FX errors.

I wouldn't suprise me if when ever George gets off his ass and get the OT on DVD it's something like the T2 special editions where you can watch either one with the same disc.

With all the rumor-mongering about the "Archival/Final/'Super Duper Extra Special with Beta Carotene' Editions," I've decided that I honestly DON'T CARE how much GL messes with the Trilogy for DVD, SO LONG AS HE MAKES THE ORIGINAL VERSIONS ALSO AVAILABLE ON THE FORMAT.

However, so far we have nothing (aside from hearsay and rumor) concrete saying that we're getting anything less than the Special Editions as they appeared in theaters circa '97-'98 and on VHS shortly thereafter, and GL has said that the SE's ARE his definitive vision (I hope he reconsiders and releases the originals on DVD).

I hold out some hope because:

1) His buddy Speilberg did it with ET and it worked, and made him some extra $$$.

2) LucasFilm originally said no Star Wars on DVD until after Episode III, then they started releasing the prequels. Now we're getting all the prequels pretty fast.

3) They originally also said no OT on DVD until Episode III, now we're getting it BEFORE Episode III.

Hope this trend of backing down a little and giving the fans a some credit and choice continues... (hey, it won't hurt him financially, and he'll make more profit in the long run)
