What do you all think it would be like? Anybody think that the hive viruses were bio-engineered?

given that biological and chemical warfare is pretty nasty already, in SW it could only be worse.

Probaby not. They were way to feared and way too nasty to delierately set loose.

And there is the Krytos Virus. A pretty mean bug but specifically targeted.

Not orgionaly, however they WHERE modified according to EU and the Emperor had a nice big storehouse full of them and according to Crix Madine, his last assignment where he defect was to be order to realse the *Deathseed hive virus on a habitable world which in his words will kill absoutly every single thing living on the planet(And he did not say sentinet, he MENT everything as during this remeberance he makes refers the the fact the tree will die to  )

If you think about it a virus that has such huge species jumping it can kill plants and mammels is pretty damn scary

Read Destiny's Way for quite a revelation concerning biological warfare in the SW universe.

Biological warfare in SW has been shown and talked about in the Krytos Trap and the Emperor's Plague. Basically, Imperial bio-weapons are designed to wipe out an entire species with quick precision, spreading throughout the Galaxy. Other weapons, such as the one used in Jedi Search, are designed to kill one particular individual. Biological warfare appears to be very deadly, very precise, but more expensive than it is today. Chemical warfare seems to be cheap and common, as evidenced by the neurotoxins and chemical agents that abound in SWEGWT.

In Shadows Of The Empire Prince Zizor was after Vader because Vader had been conducting experiments with chemicals that killed all his family, so it's prety safe to assume that the empire could and would develop hive plagues.

They have developed hive plagues (ref. The Emperor's Plague), but a chemical weapon is not evidence of a biological capability.

Vader's lab on Falleen (name of planet as well) was producing a flesh-consuming bacterialogical weapon. It escaped containment, and SDs DBZed the surrounding area (not the entire planet), hence why Xizor hates Vader.

Oh I do know the Emperor used a biological weapon do destroy an entire planet once(every last life-form, like the Umak virus that killed the 4th Empire), it took a few days I think.
