That will be the "Archival Edition" of the films, which is modified even more than the SE. I must admit to considerable fear that they will completely fuck up the movies in the process.

They have also repeatedly stated that the classic version of the original trilogy will never be released on DVD.

I thought Lucas said that the whole super-modified "archival editions" were false rumours and that they aren't going to do much at all to the films for the DVD release...

As I said since the rumours began, since NO ONE could produce ANY evidence for it, they are false.

If they did any additional work on the OT for the DVDs, I think that at the very most, it would only be minor fixes here and there...

is there a particular REASON George pukas doesn't release the films in their ORIGINAL forms? (Touched up, of course, removing the Halo of discoloration of the space around TIEs and whatnot?)

According to Lucas, the original theatrical versions of the OT are no longer in a physical condition to be released.

We've had, what? 3/4 threads like this one? Just a thought, but would it be a good idea for a mod to sticky it so we don't get like 3 or 4 more in the run up when they're released?
