The Darksider in Dark Empire: what were they really?

.In Dark Empire 1 & 2, the Emperor creates new darkside warriors at the drop of a hat.

When Palpatine empowers Tedryn-Sha and Xecr Nist with the darkside he says "I will make you dark jedi extension of my power...I now vest you both with the full rank of dark jedi...Let this power enter you and fill you with the Knowledge and the Strength of the darkside of the force that is mine to give"

I haven't read all of the WOTC stuff so maybe the answers are there. Anyway, here are my questions:

1. It appears that Ranik Solusar was a fallen jedi, ie trained in the jedi arts (although apparently not fully trained, when compared to OR jedi). But what about Sedriss and the others; were they actually trained or just empowered by Palpatine?

2. If the darksiders did indeed just learn by osmosis :D is that why they sucked so badly against Luke’s pathetic new jedi (come on a cripple and two kids with almost know training)?

3. Does the person so empowered have high latent force potential or can anyone benefit?

4. Why didn't the Yoda use this technique when training Luke (it would have been nice to gain 900yrs of experience and knowledge)?

...Say that kinda sounds like highlander... :P

Any comment or opinions will be greatly appreciated. :D

Both.

Palpatine tried to make them extensions of his own will, which inhibited their desicion-making process (not a good thing in a lightsaber fight)

They already had the potential (at least, Sedriss did)
4. Why didn't the Yoda use this technique when training Luke (it would have been nice to gain 900yrs of experience and knowledge)?
See my answer to #2. It only works one way.

Well, anybody can be trained to use the Force, just most people dont have enough contact with it to be uber-jedi's... I think they were trained in rudimentary dark side training, then their force powers were amplified....

Yes, being connected to Palp made them stronger (like the Shadow Droids) but I think they originally had a better connection than your average Joe.

wasn't Sedriss the one who had to bring Skywalker to Palpy??? I'd say that required a strong force person...

Probably true but he said he imbued them with knowledge as well. I doubt they were very well trained and they really didn't do much besides die. They were killed by rank amaetur Jedi and a cripple. I don't think anyone here would consider Liea a powerful Jedi (in comparison to old school Jedi); but even she defeats them easily. Really the only thing they had going against Luke was there numbers. Basically Palpy uses them as fodder, so I doubt he invested very much time in training them.

**** How do you guys like the funky darksider costumes? They appear to be armored. I think there look pretty cool, psuedo-vader stylin'.

Sedriss called the other Darksiders powers "Sith Magic" while he boasted he used "the Power of the Dark Side."

According to the Dark side sourcebook, the transfer technique only lasts for a limited period of time and gives the Sith Master some control over their abilities (namely, he can take them back at any time, so best do as he says). Therefore it appears that this method was simply because he lacked the time to train them. Sedriss and the others had been training for years.

In addition, Yoda couldn't do it because it is a darkside technique.

Light side / dark side what's the difference? Answer: There isn't any, they both acess the same power. They just use it differently; force push vs a force choke bother are telekinesis and both will kill you. Unless we're dealing with Sith alchemy (which the jedi, don't have so far as we know) they are doing the same sorts of thing: telepathy, precognition, telekinesis, etc. Prove there different. So far as Yoda is concerned his lack of knowledge or use of this force power, does not denote a lack of ability.
