Star Wars Episode VII Jedi Search

First off, as obsocure as I am, when the subject line is Episode VII in my posts, means I wonder what yall would do for a new movie. Heh. To that degree. Basically, I was tired of reading all the incoherentness of the threads about Daala. So here's my wild idea. Unfortunately Kevin J. Anderson has somehow made his way into the Star Wars Universe and written a number of books, which coincidentally, suck ass. Luckily, someone at lucasfilms has gained some meager form of intelligence, and now looks to erase all the wrongs he has done. Yet, they cannot get rid of the books that already exist. What do you do? What do you do? My proposal.

Re Wright, heh

Jedi Search. First off, open this book up to a very familiar scene. Starfield backdrop with a Star Destroyer. The Star Destroyer could basically be escorting the Falcon to her hyperpoint. Then she leaves for Kessel, and follow up they way the book does. Except, we'd have to use a different fighter. Actually a number of them, how about some old Interceptors.

After that, I don't know if I want to trudge through the other books to not only untangle them but then turn around and try to get them in some sort of believable order. Basically, the suncrusher would have to be bigger and different. That damn quantum armor thing is crap. Still though, the ship would have to be tough enough to get past four Star Destroyers that would be in prime condition. Despite how green the troops might have been when placed in that duty, they drill, constantly. Somehow, the incompotent and unlucky Daala portrayal has to be turned into a ruthless warlord herself. The whole Exar Kun situation was unique, but could have been done yet again, so much better. Kyp just became a whiney brat, with overly destructive powers. What we need is for him to really seethe with the Dark Side. Luke, either kill him or leave him alone. Why does everyone have to hinder him or cop out on using him and the Force to the full extent. I know. Luke will be attacked but recovers quickly. However, Kyp will already be gone. Exar Kun somehow manages to bring in let's say some hidden massasi and exert the dark side through them, and the initiates have to combat them. There. That will work. heh. What about everyone else's ideas? What's a good way to go back to all these bad EU books and get them in line with Star Wars?

Basically, the suncrusher would have to be bigger
Which would kinda destroy one of the few nice things about KJA's trilogy... the contrast between the humongous Death Star and the teeny-tiny Suncrusher.

The SC did through finesse what the DS did with brute strength. Nice dichotomy, I say.
and different. That damn quantum armor thing is crap.
I disagree. They gave a funky name to a funky armor, and never bothered trying to explain how it worked. That's just fine with me... I care more about what it DOES than HOW it does it.

Acutal they do Spoofe, Its Armor with *Its molecules so densely stacked as Quantum Mechanis allows
What ever that means

Second Everybody would much rather have VII be Hier to the Empire that Jedi Search

Zahn is a much better writer than KJA as most of us agree

Sorry, Heir to the Empire, though one of the best books in SW, wouldn't make a good movie

A nice enough idea, but horrible when placed in the Star Wars universe. There was a reason for why the DS was so big, and I'm not talking about technology. Thematically, the Death Star had to be huge, looming, menacing. As the ultimate weapon, nothing else would convey the fact that this was the bringer of death, the shatterer of worlds.

The Sun Crusher, on the other hand, I barely remember. It just feels so tiny, stupid, and unimportant. Or in other words, it lacks the SW feel.

Also, as Mike already pointed out, the idea of Supernova weapons is both silly from a physics standpoint and impractical from a military one.

The Death Star was also designed to be public. The Sun Crusher, ordered to be created by Tarkin an a facility that he thought the Emperor did not know about, was designed for secrecy. Imagine Tarkan blowing up the Coruscant STAR SYSTEM, killing the Emperor, and claiming credit.

DE?

Errr hmm

Acutal I think Heir would make a great movie if prorply handled cause its chocked full of Action and plot which to me to be easy to slice and dice
Start of Movie The task force getting its Rear wooped by Thrawn mention some tatic, Throw some numbers around Wipe to Wayland and C,Boath, Skip Talon for now mention, just explain about the Lizards, Say sure I'll get your Jedi, Nogrhi go get em! Wipe to The PLANET OF THE BIMS, quick bimmyness show everyone on to the big bimm fight, thats twenty mins right there, skip to Falcon what do you mean we left? Talk about C3po skip skip the next fight with thrawn, skip that
Show Bupfasha whatever and the second attack
Ok back into the action We have them hurring to Neklon, 3-4 mins of talking going over things while shield ship flys, walk away, A few hours later boom they arive, Half-hearted attack of ISD, blow up a few ties they run away, Cut to the entire(Oh and show C-boath calling)
Skip Dagaba altogther and the Tramsiter just what are we going to do
Take her to Wookie planet, skip skip, Quick shot of Luke getting bushwaked by ISD he gets away, maybe show Thrawn capping the guy, go go go!
Hmm now we have Luke sitting in space skip the mobo-jumpo lets show em the Mara! Talk talk talk move it along, Either skip or Time primitng show how they found Karrade through the guy
Hurry it along abit Get to where the talk some more, Luck escapes keep this one short and sweet along with the run away
More talking in jungle(This should all be around 10 mins when she explains and they get jumped twice, once easy second they nearly die)

Ok all squared away move move move, 2 mins of the fight in the city he takes them down, talk abit more move out to the big battle, Susi Van
good ten mins here

End with Acbhar being arrested and troubling times ahead...

Why would it not make a good movie?
Most of the *Boring plot devoplment could be skiped rather easy

You say it would be a bad movie agian and agian Thrawn but never why?
Why?

Because it's doesn't have the fast action that SW movies do. It's a lot about polictical stuff, stragetic battles instead of tactical ones, etc.

You do have some great battle in Hier to the Empire
Susi-Van would be great
The Norghi attacks also good
The fight in the City very Good
Luke VS the ISD would be great(somthing we have not seen before, A ISD opening up will ALL guns on a ship)
And you can keep it moving through my suggestiosn I have above

Belive me it will work
(But I know you might watch a three hour special just to see a twenty second Thrawn walk on wouldn't you GAT? :D)

Well, I would have mentioned that Spoofe, but I will in no way believe KJA was smart enough to come up with that. I am re reading the trilogy right now. I agree with Eleas though, it just didn't have the Star Wars feel. Star Wars to me has always been grandious. What we could do is steal the Doomgiver from JK II and call it the suncrusher. heh. with that quantum armor. now that would work. I never really cared how quantum armor worked, but the point tha this tiny little thing takes all those damned hits, and then rips through the ISD. The Doomgiver/Suncrusher, make it like three times the size of an ISD with heavy weaponary, and just let it rip one of them apart like that.

On that point also, I think the Tarkin tactic that lost Daala her second ISD should be scrubbed. The NR should show up with a task force that is more than formidable. Also, even though I would agree with KJAs four ISD force, seeing how you never really see Imperial support ships, I think the four ISDs should have a few Neb Bs and some Corvettes there. One thing though, trying to make Daala seem like Thrawn and then having some lame ass way for her to get beat was just totally screwed. First, the Sun Crusher went through when the ISD blocked it's way. Where as the Doomgiver/Suncrusher would slag it. heh. Then the Tarkin tactic Ackbar just happened to know. Third the suncrusher showing up and leveling the nebula it was in. The whole plot to strike Coruscant was stupid. Just showed that KJA didn't have anything original to think of. Let's see, the totally masterful Zahn attacks Coruscant. Then the critically aclaimed DF team has a Coruscant attack. Hmm, what do I do, I know, Ill attack Coruscant too.

I wanna see Rogue Squadron be made into a movie. Not necessarily a trilogy, although that could work:

Movie 1: Rogue Squadron
Movie 2: Wedge's Gamble/Krytos Trap. (admittedly, that would really crush the novels down.)
Movie 3: The Bacta War

Think about it! A cross between Star Wars and Top Gun, with dogfights accompanied by rock music, yet retaining the Imperial March and other SW music at other points. It would be awesome!

I wouldn't mind seeing that, but the central theme of SW is the jedi, so I doubt that the X-Wing would make an appropriate ending to the SW movies.

You're probably right, but I'd still love to see a movie dedicated to the X-wing and those who pilot it.

As to the Jedi...well, you have Corran realizing his Jedi heritage, so there's that...*shrugs helplessly*
