I was wondering if KDY could make a Eclipse clas star destroyer again since they made the 1st one and if they still have the plans.

Since they did make two of them, I don't see why not.

This is KDY we're talking about. Especially since (contrary to popular belief) the Eclipse was not vastly larger than an SSD.

No, but as I recall, it massed more then twice as much.

But who is more likely to have the plans to build an ESD, KDY or the shipyards at Byss (before they were destroyed)?

And KDY might be able to build an ESD, but just because they can build an SSD does not mean they can build an ESD. Superior General Delvardous was able to build the Night Hammer without KYD but I am sure most people would not think he could build an ESD. Zinij was able to build and SSD (I am not sure if he used KDY or not) but he might not be able to build an ESD.

The only thing in thier way to build an ECS (Eclipse class ship) is th political will. And I think after the takeover through the NR, the political will to build a really fat battleship with a nasty superlaser is very low.

But if the NR would have wanted these ships, they would have been great against the Vong.

There's no reason to belive the Eclipse was lost. They also started to build 4 Sovereigns which are basically Ecliipse light, and we never get to hear where they were built, only that they were destroyed within a year, most likely before completion. So they weren't built at Byss.

Yup. Alas, the New Republic has some odd qualms about deploying battleships with continent-devastating superweapons. Which is a shame because I bet one of those would be fun against a Vong Worldship.

Yeahr, what if the NR wern't so stupid and had build numerous ECB (Eclipse class battleship) and ECC (Executor class command-ship), they would have been much more effective against the Vong.
Nothing better than a Eclipse slicing up a worldship while the Commandsip shoots countless nasty holes in it.

KDY should have the plans and the capability, but they're a corporation. They won't build a massive and surely super expensive warship like the ESD unless somebody's going to buy it. Probably the only group that could ever pay that bill would be the NR and they wouldn't want one.

Because KDY is an enormous starship construction corporation.

If they can build an Executor, it's not that big a stretch to build an Eclipse. It's possible they don't have large enough slips to accomidate an Eclipse hull, but it wouldn't be a big problem for an organization like KDY to build them, either.

EDIT: The only thing they MIGHT not be able to do is the superlaser, if specialized facilities are needed for that. If that's the case, the cost of starting an Eclipse production line might be too high to be economical, because those facilities would have to be built as well. That wouldn't stop them from building a really huge battleship based on the Eclipse without the superlaser, but I was under the impression the only reason to build ships that size was to mount a superlaser, since the Executors and smaller ships can handle most any other job for which they're needed.

HIMS Eclipse began construction at a special slip at KDY's primary yards in the Kuati System. Half-built, it was shipped to Byss where it was completed at her yards.

HIMS Eclipse II presumably was begun and completed at Byss' yards.

However, I personally regard HIMS Eclipse and HIMS Eclipse II as essentially different designs: HIMS Eclipse II may have been what the Eclipse-class production run of ships would've been, but its hullform/design is significantly different than that of the original HIMS Eclipse.

The numerous Executor class command ships produced by KDY was similar in size to an Ecilipse Star Destroyer. This shows that KDY has the capability to build massive warships.

I would say yes, provided that someone would buy it. I doubt the plans would have been lost with Byss, there would have to have been another copy somewhere.

Well, they're officially blown to smithereens, though, right? Wasn't that in one of thse Boba Fett books? And those start not long after RotJ. So its probably too late. Unless they got ressurected in some book.

I believe they were fully active as far as before the New Jedi Order.
